I was at Balak on Saturday and couldn't believe that no call. Surely if a club's runner touches the ball during play, either intentionally or non-intentially, it is still a free kick.twogood4u wrote:Was the large number of security warrented? Was the low numbers of spectators a direct result of the no BYO policy? After reasuring posts about poor umpiring in the local paper from apfl president, We are still seeing woefull umpiring (mallala runner touching the ball! free kick must be awarded. but NOplay on was the call and mallala scored as a result .

An coming from the amateur league where the crowds aren't huge, if that crowd at Balak was a small one, I'd hate to try to move around when there's a decent one. Although $3 for snag is a bit rich.

I dont think that decision had much of an influence on the game did it, there we plenty of others that we worse than that one.
Harden up mate, if 3 bucks is too much to pay for a feed then maybe you should have been there Sunday collecting the empty cans around the place. Snags are there to raise $$$ for the club afterall.

As for the BIG CROWD! You could get a car park on the fence 1/4 time of the "A"s ? , Have not seen that for many years! Entry prices, beer price and food prices and no BYO allowed, This is having an effect on family finances. So what next to go! BAN BBQ's AND SEARCH CARS FOR YOUR LUNCH YOU MADE AT HOME?

I think I saw the umpires co-ordinator trying to get on the field to let the ump know that it should have been a free. Lets just hope the umpire who gave the non-call doesn't get an A Grade game for the rest of the year. You just can't have anything other than the best 2 umpires doing the last 2 A Grade games for the season. Would hate for something like that to affect the result.

Totally agree - but which are the best 2? Umpires on Sunday semed to miss a lot for both sides but the little bloke was the better of the 2 (Jenner I reckon it was), one of the umpires on saturday just doesn't know the rules and hasn't known them the whole time he has been attempting to umpire. I bet it was him that missed the call on the runner and ball.

As usual Jumbo you would win your bet!
2 best IMO would be Min & Jenner.

It concerns me greatly when umpires don't know the blood rule, don't know the basics such as runner interference, numbers in the square etc etc. They WILL have an affect on the outcome. To say an incorrect decision doesn't have an effect on the game is wrong, all decisions have an impact on the game, right or wrong. Some may not result in a score but it will impact on player's frustration and result in player confusion which will further impact on the way we play the game.
