CC, It's not a case of which team or club is better than any other. I've played with Flinders, Wanderers and Panthers and all three clubs have some some great people involved with them. I'm just not sure what Wanderers have done wrong to be acused of being selfish and only thinking of ourselves? We will sign players every week to ensure games are played not forfited. This position has been consistant in Womans and Mens. Every other club has refused to sign players at some level atleast once in either Mens or Womans. Come finals time we want to win and we will not sign anyone for clubs who have had a full season to organise a team in all grades for those three weeks. Pritty simple, logical and fair I would have thought. I don't even know who this "block" is. As for the associtation creating a rule for this situation. If your going to have a rule.........make it a good rule. This one isn't a good one.

I think the old system was a bit of a free for all as well wasn't it? Clubs just asked the association for permits come finals time which they (the association) have said they will not be granting.
I haven't meant to be harsh on Flinders either I just don't see how we are being unfair to anyone. Libertine and Blink do a great job within that club. Nicole Hancox is doing her best and the woman at Flinders are going really well numbers wise and wins wise so it can be done. Many people around the association keep saying Wayne Harvey going to Flinders would hurt their numbers. If so I haven't seen it. From what I've seen he is doing a great job and is mellowing out with age. I think he has been good for Flinders. It would be interesting to see what you guys think about all this and I will be trying to catch up with all of you over this weekend so there is no ill feeling. This all started out as a swipe at Marauders for their stance on this issue and has ended up as Block vs Haloman thing. It's not a Wanderers vs Flinders thing or shouldn't be anyway.

Exactly why I haven't bothered posting again because I think too many assumptions have been made towards each club without actual knowledge of what's actually going on. And it's not exactly Marauders fault either, I’ve spoken to players from their B Grade team and they had no problem with our usual players being signed down, but it wasn't up to them. So due to the decision of someone completely unrelated to the Marauders B Grade team, they missed out on playing us that week (and probably the week coming too).
The permit system wasn't 100% but it worked, it was judged on case by case, I’m not sure why it was completely turfed… It would be great if someone could actually explain the reasoning behind it and why the permits have been thrown out. It hasn't encouraged recruiting whatsoever, we're always trying to recruit as it is (and yes - contact those people who have been out at the start of the year, and/or in prior years, to come back out). Personally I wouldn’t mind the sign down rule if permits were granted for those players who have been signed down for so many games (say 6?). I do think that is fair as obviously the opposing teams do not see those players that are signed down weekly as an unfair advantage and it would also add some structure to the permit system? Can you see where i'm coming from there?
I haven't posted to start an arguement, merely wanted to post my opinions.

Here's a Wanderers v Flinders thing...actually Wanderers v every other Mens A grade team.

I heard that Kingy is carrying a truckload of different injuries? Can you confirm/deny this haloman or are you keeping your cards close to your chest on this one?

The annual Wanderers bus trip is also on this weekend, I wonder if there'll be any players out the following week with 'self-inflicted' injuries?! ;)

Wanderers vs Every other A grade mens team............interesting. Not sure what your on about there Blink.
As for Jed, he has had a knee injury all season..........that's all. He told me early in the season that it can't be made any worse and he will probably need an op at seasons end. He wanted to see the season out........if he is fit enough to do so he will. We've given him a few games off just to make sure he gets through and he's away now for two weeks on holidays so he should be right for finals. If that's you call "a truckload of injuries" then so be it. As for keping my cards close to my chest..........it's been there for all to see man......... no secrets on our behalf.
Hope every1 had fun on the bus trip. Should have stayed............the footy was shite..........

Jed is a great player haloman, I am sure Panthers and Marauders are just as interested to know how he is faring as Flinders. That is all that was meant by that!

Good to hear he'll be back for finals. What are everyones views about the early finish to the season this year?

Not a fan but it is the lesser of two evils. Don't like the idea of having a break in the middle of a finals series......

the association as usual is useless - the soccer tournament won't be played on the PLHA turf, so why should we not be allowed the use of it as per normal? What a joke.

OK lads and lasses................Finals is fast approaching........no sitting on the fence.......pick your Grand Final opponents and premiers in all senior grades..........

MENS A GRADE. Marauders vs Wanderers Premiers: Wanderers (has anyone come from bottom before and won it?)
WOMANS A GRADE. Flinders vs Wanderers Premiers: Wanderers
MENS B GRADE. Panthers vs Wanderers Premiers: Wanderers
WOMANS B GRADE Panthers vs Wanderers Premiers: Wanderers

Seriously though the Mens A grade is an open race and the Panthers vs Wanderers match in the first week of the finals could well produce the team that wins it all. Anyone of the four clubs wouldn't surprise too many if they win it. Flinders have bbe great all year, Mauraders would be unlucky not to get there and Panthers are well organised and experienced. At Wanderers we are capable of beating anyone on our day, realistically though, our minor round season says we don't deserve to still be in the hunt after week one of the finals.
Womans A grade looks a race in two and Flinders and Wanderers at full strength should be to strong for both Panthers and Marauders. Flinders look to have a really skillful young team with a few oldies thrown in for good measure whilst Wanderers have a bit more experience which could help during the finals series.
The Mens B grade is also a race in two............but Wanderers need to exercise some finals demons from the past couple of years to make it. Panthers should win it but wont..........Barks will choke and him and Raj will have a blue GF day to unsettle their team.
Womans B grade has Panthers as deserving Premiership favs having had a solid season. Wanderers are comming good at the right end of the year and Marauders could be a surprise packet if they can find a forward to score some goals for them. Flinders should finish bottom this season..............so they'll probably win the whole thing as hey usally do in this grade!

Agree/disagree?

flinders came from bottom and won the gf . morgs is the only player left from that side . they didn win a game all season . marauders came from bottom of ladder last year made the gf and lost to panthers . they are the two that comes to mind that i know about . in saying that julie has informed me that marauders a grade have not finished minor premiers and won a gf for 23yrs . i keep reminding the boys of this record, hence was the motivation the boys got to flog flinders other than having martin leslie come into rooms before the game, to have a chat to them .
