Here a lot of talk about dingy boys leaving in the past etc etc, but surely there was a reason for them all leaving all around that period 6,7 8 years ago?? who was in charge down there at that time? who knows?, but somethin wasn't right with a heap of players leaving and ultimately leading to their downfall over the years.
Leaving to go play with mates would have helped choose which club you would go to, but it doesnt explain them leaving the club altogether? you can make mates pretty easily in a footy team and wouldnt be an easy decision to make to leave a team? Just some thoughts anyway
kurtz portlock paterson, haywood boys, a skinner and a few others were all the same, maybe the club should have a look at the way it was run for this to happen[/quote]
It all started with the loss in the 99 GF to Kangies. We had a good side full of young guys returning from South juniors, solid local players and some other new recruits and there was a great feeling around the club. Bronte Fisher was coach in 99, and in no disrespect to Bronte but i feel he struggled as a coach and this led to a few guys looking in other directions. It was clear that Bronte would not coach in 2000 and Mark Grandison took over. Grando also had a bit of trouble communicating with some of the guys and that led to a bit of an exodus from Dingy. If we had won the grandy this might not of happened, and the transition into Div 1 would have been much better.
Alot of the guys that left in the following years, in my opinion felt too much pressure to sep up to the seniors and all they wanted to do was play footy with their mates. Fair enough i guess, but at that time i thought it was piss poor.
Footy clubs need to be run like a business, and unfortunatly this has not been the case at Aldinga. I can't speak for this year, but i hear things are looking better.
But jeeh i spend some sleepless nights thinking about the quality that has been in Aldingas junior ranks and the lads that have a bit of dingy blood in them playing for the teams down the road.
