So would Div 1 beat Div 2?? Why isn't that then the association game, instead of playing BLG in some game that in all honesty no one really gives a crap about? I reckon you would have a massive crowd and the players would be very keen to prove they play in a strong comp.

It may be slightly more interesting at the moment with a few extra quality players in the top Div 2 sides, but in the longer term it would result in too many drubbings and be pointless.

I agree that BLG is somewhat pointless, bring back lovelock or atleast the riverland trip. Good times.

Apart from the fact that the BLG is probably one of the only associations that could beat you. little scared to get smashed again are we's?

My point had nothing to do with strength of BLG, simply that blokes have to be interested in playing. Riverland trip was a great bus trip and there was always genuine interest in Lovelock when we played against our neigbouring comps. I don't see the point in playing against the same league year after year, switch it around.

Maybe we play your b grade cause your a grade team are to bloody one minded to play for their association, this is not my fault. Maybe if you wanna play your strongest team have tribunal and suspensions for players that have no good excuse. I'll be at hahndorf mate, i'll make a point to come see ya to mate, i know where you'll be :-)

Don't look too hard chief, cause i won't be there. I understand there are suspensions in place this year anyway, not that I'm in favour of it.

I am loving all this talk about the association games, It shows that the excitement for these games are coming back like in the old days where getting quality players to play was never a problem.

What are the rules of Country players playing in the Central side? Because I believe if the HFL want to put the absolute best side on the park against BLG, players such as Slattery, Pearce and Clayton would definitely have to be to picked IMO.

I noticed in the Courier that they emphasised the 2 game suspensions to anyone who refused to play, as I think this will still be a major issue especially with a lot of the recruits. How strict will the HFL get as I can see a high number of injuries occurring at the end of games in Rd 8….how can you police if a player is actually injured or not?

It will be interesting to see if the HFL back up their suspension threats or are they just pissing in the wind????

Lets hope that the HFL heirachy are serious with their threats, and lets hope both teams get their best 22 onto Hahndorf Oval and we can see a great match between probably the two best associations in this state.

Who are the Best 6 U23's for both Leagues?

not 100% sure on the ages of some of the older U23 possibilties but some of the recent entries into senior ranks from colts could but included- A.Kirwan, D.Abernethy, B.Pistola, J.Bampton, C.Healy, L.Staniford, D.Brown, M.Tudor-Tsourtos, A.Edwards, M.Higgs

yes it is 6 under 23's required from both sides during the association match. agree with some of these young selections, very good players coming through the ranks. Although i think you would find bampton is back at norwood, and edwards is playing seconds for blackwood so doubt he could make it. and dont know about staniford either, not as good as the other names mentioned.

Just on that, how many Central div games would he have seen? 2-3? its not like he will actually have to do much coaching, wouldnt it be more about picking a balanced team?

How can James be expected to do this?

I agree Banker once again the HFL has made a mistake by not consulting with coaches. The best coach has to have seen his options first hand. Expect a top heavy team of snipers I suggest?

Just back from watching the juniors against the murraylands at Nairne and well done to the river boys in the 17's game but where were all our better kids. I know conditions were damp but I could name 6 or 7 of the better kids in HFL that didn't play. I understand that the game was a sturt game and that the kids at norwood and west could not play but surely Male, Shearwood, Pope, Osullivan and co should have been playing. I know talking to the murray parents their best kids played. Do the HFL take these games serious or were our kids injured. Are all the kids gonna turn out for BL&G game ? Surely the HFL would want them to play all rep games.

I think the association should be an U/23 comp and be a celebration of youth. I'll bet you'd find most lads this age would be jumping out of their skin to represent their league. The names I've seen thrown around are fantastic footballers and have all played a very high standard of football. Give the younger lads their time in the sun i say! I could tell you half a dozen blokes named in the squad who could not give 2 shits about the association game or the league. They're only playing hills footy for the cash.

It doesn't give a clear indication of the best league, choosing these players, just proves what league has the most cash!! An U/23 comp I believe would showcase the real hills league development

These kids were unavailable for this game due to injury and the fact that sturt were not willing to let them play this game as a sturt game was also being played that weekend. Last year the kids eligible of this game that were playing at sturt were allowed to play as sturt had the bye. As for the BL&G game, kids that are playing for sturt that weekend will not be available for the association game. This caused problems last yr as some kids who werent playing at sturt missed out on a game of football for sturt kids that werent even playing in the proper association match.

I'm pretty sure Shearwood played for Ironbank against Birdwood on Saturday and wasn't injured.
Not sure about the others though.

I'm interested to know myself? Where's all the chat about the weekends games. The Hahndorf v Blackwood game must have been a solid hit out. I must admit to being very surprised by the result. It would appear to me that Hahndorf are all talk, not getting over Blackwood is a bit a worry considering that the Woods are no stronger than last year...and we all know what happend in last years grand final. I'd be putting my money ona double hat-trick.

The Lofty Barker game was pretty uneventful apart for a few all in brawls. It appeared that some of the Barker guys were trying to intimidate Lofty...an interesting ploy to say the least. Devils in a canter.

therer were quite a few cheap shots thrown behind the play toward the lofty guys and some lip.... dont know what was said or done to sammy broadbridge to get him fired up but he is one of the most placid guys i have ever met and to see him get in a tussle is saying a bit... and what about mcdonald.. yeah we all know we are going to cop it when we play against an old side but he could not even go near the ball without getting punched or pushed into the ground though... but to his credit he just got up and kept playing coping it all on the chin...

well done to alex 'the little master' weeeks.. taking out BOG in the game then taking out the Mr Mt Lofty title later that night...

Roosters v Ironbank game was a good hit out, the lads showed alot of character. Still with a few out and then losing 2 players for the day by quarter time meant we were somewhat undermanned but still managed to put together a strong victory.
Was tightish until about halftime then Roosters ran all over Ironbank... probably should have won by a few more. Matt Krieg showed why he is so highly regarding playing one of the best games i've seen by someone in the Red and White.
22 for Ironbank is an absolute monster! Gave them first use of the pellet pretty much everytime... who is he?

Boys are super pumped for a big game this week at Blackwood park. We tend to play pretty well there for some reason. And it doesn't even look like a velodrome!
