langhorne to bounce back 15 goals
Mclaren in an upset 3 goals
yank first win for the year 5 goals
willunga can match the big 5 or 6 from victor its the other 15 that will get them over the line too much depth 4 goals
goolwa to continue there winning ways 3 goals
who ever thought of the saying winning isn't everything, probably lost!!

Jai McMurtrie is a very promising young player. Quality addition to the Creeks.

Nice work! I have to say it's a better piece than anything the local papers have to offer, particularly the Southern Argus. Some very ordinary journalism in that publication.

Would never slander a fellow journo, from all reports it is palatable.

Hate to blow your theory out of the water there D&W but I'm not who you think I am, although I'm flattered that you think my posts are worthy of an 'editorial' standard.

I'm afraid I've never played a game of football in my life due to medical reasons (plus I'm just sh1t, but I usually run with the 'medical' excuse  ), let alone coached. My younger siblings are extremely handy players for LC, hence my interest in the GSFL.

I'm afraid I am just the humble local librarian who's football expertise extends no further than the couch/car seat.

Either way mate, good to have your input.

How did Jai McMurtrie find his way to the Creeks? Was one of the favourite sons at Callington (Mainly because he was the only local in the past 20 years to have one iota of talent) Callington would not be happy with his departure.

Gingernuts some of the finest critics of the game are on the couch/in the car seat.

Will the Creeks knock up a cricket score this week in anger after dropping the local derby against Strath in a surprising loss last week?

Conditions for Saturday look promising, may be a bit of wind about but the grounds will be firm and some good footy should be produced on the weekend!

Got no idea how they pulled that one off, I don't have a lot to do with the inner workings of the club but their ability to get pen to paper this year has been impressive to say the least.

The Murgatroyd 'steal' from Strath is becoming the stuff of local legend, some classic banter in the local team spots in the Argus and in the Hawk Herald last week. lol

As for your question BJ, speaking to the captain last week after the game I wouldn't like to be Myponga this week. The only thing that will save them from a belting is if this rain keeps coming down today to make the Myponga oval the appropriate condition for the aptly named Mudlarks. It is bucketing down here where I am in Victor at the moment.

Tips for this week - Mount Compass will bring the Magpies back down to earth with a gutsy win in the mud at Compass. The talls up front will count for nothing in the conditions.
Strathalbyn are back on track with a team that is defying all the critics and will defeat McLaren easily. Criticised a lot last year Simmons is doing well this year with a young group.
The Bays to give the club some hope and win over at Yank, who are still missing many stars. The time to play Yank is now!
Willunga will prove to everyone how great once again is the difference between them and the rest. What a competition it would be if the Demons were not in it. The flag would be anybodys.
The Creek should defeat Pongy although the conditions will suit the Mudlarks better, as proven by the incapabilities of the Hawks in the wet last week.

Jimmy. Pleased to see you are an expert on the GSFL after watching one match this year. (saw your comments re umpiring decision) As well as having contacts with Barry Pitman down at Yank regarding the weather. :D
What were your thoughts on the standard of the Mclaren and Yank game?

One match this year big fella, but plenty last year and the years before. But no expert on any league as my tips will show.
I have a Carrickalinga kid staying with us at the moment and he got the call
Did you see the free I was taling about? It was 5 mins into the 3rd quarter...maybe you were still hoovering those halftime pies'npasties down with a glass of red -
Yea - I was enviously watching :D

I tend to watch one team so I wasn't really watching MV, but.......I'll have a shot:

Wind was going in every direction so it would have been very difficult to play
MV's skills much better than Yanks.
Yank too indirect going into the forward line and continuously kicked to MV strongholds (Did we do away with the CHF position in our game during one of the AFL's constant rule changes)
Yank wasted the wind in the first quarter - no goals.
MV could come out of backlines too easily, but again, probably because of the way it was being sent in
I thought Dwayne Hamlin and No 17 (or 16??) on the HBF were best for Yank
Your tall, bald bloke at FF looked threatening all day. Contested well and worked hard to keep the ball in the forward lines.
Although MV controlled most of the game, they didn't kill Yank off until 10 mins into the last quarter

Time has erased any other memories unless prompted ;)

Mclaren V Yankalilla A GRADE
Last quarter and the scores were very close.
Yank player grabs the ball at centre wing, in front of the clubrooms and the crowd.

Runs on 45 degree angle towards the boundary and the end McLaren was kicking....I thought to get space and then tocentre the ball

BUT NO HE THEN PUTS ON A SPURT AND KEEPS RUNNING THE WRONG WAY AND KICKS 45 METRES THE WRONG WAY.
PRICELESS

Well, name the player from Tigerland who needs a GPS

I just read that on Adelaide Now website.
Appears they are calling into 'the shoe' so I suppose they could very well end up at the footy in Victor as well ??

It could be the way Victor will win. The Willunga boys arrive at the game at quarter time after being stuck behind the bikies and give the Roos a 30 minute head start.
