Fact or Fiction big money is being spent, so why hide the amount? Most clubs would be spending that week in week out, that's just the way footy is at the moment. If that's the amount going around at the moment then Bridgey and Clubs like them need to be paying it. But what's going to happen to these clubs when the money dries up?
Suggestion: Leagues need to be involved in all financial contracts e.g HFL, GSFL. I think that they should look at taking a % of all match payments say 10% for 1 of 2 things.
1. Save it for a rainy day for things like Club Rescue Packages, Lighting Up-Grades or things like Kersbrook's Oval situation last year ( by the way, well done boys! )
2. Or the money accumilated for that year is then divided between the clubs evenly for the next.
Another suggestion is all clubs contribute a fixed amount say $40K. The money is then offered to interested talented players to come play in the HFL, but are then drafted out to clubs like the AFL Draft system. Just some suggestions.
Again please don't think this is directed at Players or Clubs, more at League Footy itself. I'm sure is happens in other States too.
No need to hide it but it's specualtion is all. Just my personal stance that i don't believe people shoud speak about $'s others are on without knowing for sure.
You have some very valid points on when the money dries up, i have seen it back home over the last 10 - 15 years. Clubs recruit heavily to get of the bottom then when the money dries up or if they have recruited poorly (interstaters or people that move on) they hit rock bottom again and find it hard to recruit even mid tier players.
I love the draft idea but unfortunatley it would never work because clubs wouldn't allow it and also recruits will usually come along with a couple of mates to play and wouldn't want to be seperated. I have no solution.
As for the points system it is clearly out of whack, i understand the Hills FL didn't even want it to be 35 points. Clearly the teams that finish top and bottom (given the gap between them) should not be afforded the same points for the following year. I find it a joke!
