Fact or Fiction big money is being spent, so why hide the amount? Most clubs would be spending that week in week out, that's just the way footy is at the moment. If that's the amount going around at the moment then Bridgey and Clubs like them need to be paying it. But what's going to happen to these clubs when the money dries up?
Suggestion: Leagues need to be involved in all financial contracts e.g HFL, GSFL. I think that they should look at taking a % of all match payments say 10% for 1 of 2 things.
1. Save it for a rainy day for things like Club Rescue Packages, Lighting Up-Grades or things like Kersbrook's Oval situation last year ( by the way, well done boys! )
2. Or the money accumilated for that year is then divided between the clubs evenly for the next.
Another suggestion is all clubs contribute a fixed amount say $40K. The money is then offered to interested talented players to come play in the HFL, but are then drafted out to clubs like the AFL Draft system. Just some suggestions.
Again please don't think this is directed at Players or Clubs, more at League Footy itself. I'm sure is happens in other States too.

No need to hide it but it's specualtion is all. Just my personal stance that i don't believe people shoud speak about $'s others are on without knowing for sure.
You have some very valid points on when the money dries up, i have seen it back home over the last 10 - 15 years. Clubs recruit heavily to get of the bottom then when the money dries up or if they have recruited poorly (interstaters or people that move on) they hit rock bottom again and find it hard to recruit even mid tier players.

I love the draft idea but unfortunatley it would never work because clubs wouldn't allow it and also recruits will usually come along with a couple of mates to play and wouldn't want to be seperated. I have no solution.

As for the points system it is clearly out of whack, i understand the Hills FL didn't even want it to be 35 points. Clearly the teams that finish top and bottom (given the gap between them) should not be afforded the same points for the following year. I find it a joke!

Point taken, I guess I was just trying to inform people on what is floating around. Some people might think $200 per game is big money for a big name player, when we know it's a little more.
Should we look at what the York Pen introduced and incorporate that to the points system. I think if you finish Top you can only recruit 1 Big Name, Finish 8th you can recruit 8. I can see flashes of the points working early in this season, but lets wait and see where teams finish up at the end of the year. You may find no real big changes, for my clubs sake I hope not.

Without knowing the insd and outs of this league it seems that prior to the points system being introduced a few clubs recruited heavily (rightly so) and have benefited as those players were then classed as locals on the points system. If you keep the points system the same it will take a good 4 years to even things up.
No doint a pro rata system of points would be effective in evening a comp but still won't change the fact you have to pay big dollars these days. Are blokes getting paid to play in Div 4 and below?

On the pine -

I'll take a thousand on ya call re the senior colts. Your colts won't go close. You played a top 3 team last week and lost at home. How many did big Liam kick that day (2). You have beaten the bottom 2 teams. I could kick 10 goals against a 14 year old opponent too and I'm 55. I will be Happy to see you at Subway stadium and have the wager on your next visit to our joint. I have watched much junior footy over the years and if the better forwards are'nt playing at league clubs or in A grade by this age (17) they tend not to advance. It is not wise to big note kids on forums as only one thing will happen. Junior footy in the hills is alive and well.

'not wise to big note kids on forums..', wow that is rich coming from a mt.lofty supporter. im not claiming our colts are gonna win the flag, but any kid that is kicking the amount of goals liam is right now deserves a mention. there is every chance he'll win the goal kicking award (2nd year running) and will be a very solid A grade footballer for a long time.

My tips this week:

Ironbank - By 3 goals, go you Thunderers
Hahndorf - By 8 goals
Mt Lofty - By 10 goals
Blackwood - By 3 goals
Bridgewater - By 12 goals, due to their smart assistant coach, gday pal

Good luck to all this week, may the weather dry up to make good contests. Didn't miss hills footy last weekend I can tell you.

Geez, the Birdwood posters have come from nowhere this season. Said a couple of years ago they were wasting their time in Divvy 1 without buying the right kind of players, as the cattle they had was never gonna be good enough. Krieg, McGahey, Dempsey seem to be some good investments for the Roosters. Probably need a few more of the 'right types' to mix it with the Loftys/Uraidlas of this comp, but they seem to be on the right track. Don't reckon there is any doubt if the James/Burns Cup was played over the last couple of years it would remain where it is today (At Brook Park), but think the games would be a lot closer now.

Early tips for the Mail Medal.

1. Adam Klun- Depends a bit on how Onkas go whether he gets 3's or 1's and 2's, but will be in Onkas best every week. Has won before and gets a lot of possies right under the umps noses. Favourite IMO.

2. Matthew Bartemucci- Goal kicking left footers always get noticed. Racks up the possesions and finds space. Hahndorf should win enough games for him to win it, however may have votes taken off him from team mates, especially Cooper, Kaeslar and Stansborough.

3. Brad Burch- Surely it's about time he won one. Also may have votes taken off him by team mates, but is very consistent and Lofty should win often enough for his BOG's to be 3's.

I'm not sure about those. Hahndorf and onkas would share their votes around to much as with the Hahndorf names you've mentioned, plus at onkas Shaun Smith, Tanner, Kirwin, Smart and Shee in there too. I Think maybe Dan Ebert from Uraidla possibly again with Nunan. The Umpires seem to get all giddy over him, I see he got 1st best on the week end so im sure he was penciled for 3, 2 and 1!!!

Is Ryan Hunter in the ones this week, or is he going to win the 'B' grade Medal?
