I would like to know from the teams that has a loss on the weekend, at what COST did it set back your clubs. I'm a Bridgey Boy and I would say between $2500 to $3500 was probably on the paddock. Now I'm not having a crack at the players taking the money ( best recruits I've seen at Bridgewater in 10 yrs ) Nor I'm I having a go at clubs for paying the price. The State of Amature Footy at the moment I think there's a lot of one-way traffic for a lot of clubs out there.
1. When did Footy Clubs start paying ridiculous prices for players, com'on $600 - $800 a game is
a bit of a joke. Herd as much as $1200 a game this year.
2. How much money is going back into the clubs 10% - 20% ??? meals & bar
3. How much longer can clubs survive spending money just to stay competitive. ( not finals,
COMPETITIVE!!! )
It's happening all over the State. I think something needs to be done, so clubs can stay alive. But What??? SANFL / AFL involvement??? Not Sure???
I think you you find that clubs are not pinning there hopes on players putting the entire amount back over the bar, more so the supporters that will get to more games to see the better players and their team being more successful or as you stated even more competitive then previous years.
The amount of $'s getting paid is out of hand no doubt, but the only alternative seems to be a Salary Cap which most leagues have tried and failed with as it is near impossible to police.
The only way to go it is recruit smarter, don't get into a bidding war. Easier said then done obviously as it has escalated and won't go back.
Also BB i wouldn't suggest splashing around figures on how much cash runs around the paddock, even for your own team as it does no good for anyone and it's complete pie in the sky stuff with no facts to back it up.
I'm no leader. I do what I have to do - sometimes people come with me.
