Ok enoughs enough from the Swamp, clearly Thommo isnt buying in to all the 'pie' jokes as I had expected him to, so its not quite having the effect I was hoping. Surely he's on here somewhere though given his job!!
Jokes aside, Daniel Thomas is a gun and will be super tough to stop in our league with the quality of HWE midfielders feeding him. He'll be great with the young blokes if he gets invloved with the Juniors and stuff. I'll pay that Ace, he's not overweight rather just built like the preverbial sh*thouse and will be almost unstoppable 1 on 1. Not quite sure about the Broady comparison though. Wasnt totally dominant in the Barossa but will be pretty close to it over here. He's my early tip for the Leading Goalkicker this season.

PS welcome Jack, where have you been, hows the health of our disasterous sidekick of a few weeks back.

I've been around Swamp you know me! Most of my computer time is spent on fantasy sport teams and the like, I tend to forget that this exists occasionally! Been catching up on what I've missed, and apparently Hamley have got some recruits? That took up about 10 pages! Our sidekick of a few weeks back I haven't seen much of, I assume he's busy working (for a change). I think he's banking on Ace having cooled down before he sees him again! I'm still trying to decide what was worse, his efforts at the buck's show, going out the back for a Chris Mew during the ceremony, or hitting on the youngest bridesmaid at the reception!!! Certainly made the rest of us look like the best groomsmen that ever were! Which we should thank him for I spose! Ah, good times! :)

Thanks Benny, I wish I could claim it as my own work, but I believe it was Ol' Blue Eyes himself (Frank Sinatra for the younger generation, showing my age!) who gave us this classic quote. And from what I hear, he would've known!

Update for those intersted in the status of Lower Gilbert Cricket Assoc leading into the last minor round game this saturday.
The following ladder & confirmation of points system is supplied from the league President.

Mallala – 88.0
Dublin – 67.84
Longies – 64.23
Hamley – 61.77

Points system;
Win = 4.0
Loss = 0.0
1 run = .01
1 wicket = .2 ( no bonus point for bowling a team out)

Looks to me that Dubby are safe & can’t get knocked out of the top 3 but could possibly lose home final. And the winner out of Longies & HB will make the final. Doesn't get much closer Swamp!
One day original John Palmer will be found & the truth will be known.

Longies may have to break new territory if they are to win. Can't win Johnny from fourth this year!

Maybe Benny C can tell everyone where the real Johnny Palmer is??

I guess it was either that or put the comp into the too-hard-basket and let the comp fold so that we can join another one and have an association team play each week. An extra team would be good but apparently the mid north team werent too keen on taking on the teams in the LGCA each week, which is fair enough to with the likes of Trussel, East x2, Ricko steaming in.

Thought I'd get a bite! I think it's called planning for the future (ie having somewhere decent for the kids to play), instead of living in the past (ie putting past rivalries aside for the good of the game) and trying something different against opponents that we don't normally see during footy season. And to date, we've had a ball having so many more people to hate! You guys are more than welcome to join us! (Views expressed not necessarily the view of Stanley Cricket Association re inclusion of extra teams!) But, this should be on another forum entirely. SHOULDN'T IT!! :)
