Not to mention he only saw them each time he played them and could not really study them as there was no television. Don't kid yourself panther, he was unreal and saying he would have an average of 49 rather than 99 is an un-educated cricket comment imo. what if he had todays training or equipment??

what are you on LK ?

bradman was in his 70's when the west indian quicks were at their peak, i'd suggest a 49 run average is a fair call & infact bradman was asked a similar question about how he'd go & the don said i'd average around the 50 mark, when quizzed he replied well i am 83 years old
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I'd have to say Andrew McDonald isnt really setting the world on fire.... not quite sure what he brings to the team but I'll give him a chance to settle before labelling him a dud...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

statistically these bowlers each averaged over 4 wks per test at around 20 - 25 p /w....not bad hey???

marshall has one of the best averages in the modern game well in the low 20's and batted high 20's.................

but the greatest allrounder in the modern game Imran Khan batting average around 37, bowling approx 4.5wks per test @ 24 approx...........quite incredible.............and equal or better than any other allrounder the game has ever seen.....................

Although i didn't see much of Imran Khan and those stats are fantastic does Jacques Kallis' stats rate him as the greatest modern day allrounder the game has seen?

9988 runs @ 54.57
252 wickets @ 31.12
139 catches

That is a pretty hard record to beat and rates him as the no 1 allrounder of the modern era IMO.

If you're talking modern all-rounder then fine but if talking all time Sir Garfield Sobers is the man.

Ah, but ubeauty was referring to Imran as being equal or better to any the game has ever seen. I agree on the modern all-rounder call but disagree with the equal or better to any the game has ever seen part.

I disagree with his selection at this stage. Jacques or Rogers are better at the moment. Leave him and develop him for a couple of seasons.

Surely the biggest dud to play for Australia has to be Kenneth Burns (test player #56) from Tasmania. Picked as the reserve 'keeper for the 1890 tour of England without ever having kept wicket in his life.... go figure.

Scored 41 runs in two tests...

Mind you that team was picked by a collection of NSW and VIC players...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Can't say i have seen him AH. Although Andrew McDonald isn't doing much at the moment, still not a dud in my book.
