Not too sure, at this stage there is supposed to be about 11 recruits but I'm not too sure on the local/import ratio, Prouse is keeping his recruiting very tight to his chest, especially on imports. From what I can gather Taylor would be their last import spot. Lets not forget that about 12 players have moved on so Prouse has to recruit a reasonable number to cover them. Looks as though the squad is coming along well though and will be more competitive than last year, reasonable numbers at training (approx 30) which is far higher than previous years.
Skip
Skip, anything further with this??
Names etc...
Freeling did have a good Senior Colts side from memory, how many of these young lads will move into the senior ranks this year... A promising sign for a club thats relied on imports of late....

All of the lads mentioned previously from the Colts are pencilled in to play significant roles this year. Not to be left out.
Freeling is drawing from the smallest population pool in the comp for its depth, so obviously we are going to do our best to fill our quota, after all your not going to sign up paid players and not play them.
We are always looking at moving guys into the area with employment with the hope that it is a long term venture, just like other clubs, particularly in the Barossa. They are embraced as a local in the community. 2 lads have moved in recently, with possibly another couple on the way.
We actually have great faith in our young players, but recognise that they need some support. They need time to find their feet, and need a fighting chance in each game. All of the imports are what you would call in the youngish category. They are not old men, looking for one last fling, But potential long term players with something to prove. No world beaters, but all parts of the puzzle
Finally, there is a significant housing development going on in town, which ( in time ) will increase our depth. Couple this with steady improvement in the juniors, and in time we believe the future looks pretty bright.

he would be lucky to play all year in the ones.

drifter wrote:yeah Rum Runner, sorry about the essay. Just thought we were being questioned on overlooking locals and needed to set the record straight. As far as Mc Millan goes, every player will be selected on form, not reputation, McMillan included. He gets his chance to put his best foot forward, balls in his court. You shouldnt need half hour to read this one.
