The fact that >49 lives are lost and communities have been burnt to the ground is why I am more concerned with this than the floods.

I'm fairly close to Mt Dandenong itself and it is a high risk area, so I was listening for the local sirens and had my scanner handy. The nearest big fire was the one that took out the beautiful little town of Marysville, which is about 45 minutes away by car.
