BBQ Cooking Ideas

Postby hearts on fire » Sun Jan 04, 2009 10:28 am

I know that the obvious things you can cook on a BBQ are meat and that.

But what else can you cook on there, does anyone have any ideas or special secrets they use? ;)

I have the answer for all you budding chefs.

The SAAFL Friday footy show are seeking applications to join that other 'Wally" (Peter Maddern) who does the Chef Ben segment. He needs as much help as he can get so get on board.
Now that is just plain dumb, don't you think?

Other than steaks the best BBQ'd stuff I've ever had (not in the UK I hasten to add) are...

Freshly caught shark, tuna and wahoo.

Haloumi...gorgeous especially with a few rashers of bacon.

get a good quality piece of meat (scotch fillet/rib eye/fillet), cook it to medium, & then lightly shave a blue-vein cheese on to the meat- goes well with mushrooms (the larger variety)

Just a tip. Whenever you cook anything with marinade use Glad Bake. Cooks evenly and leaves no mess. Just throw the Glad Bake in the bin afterwards and cleanup is done. :D

Get a big Swiss Brown mushroom
Pull the stalk out to reveal a little hole in the middle
Drop a cube of cheese in it
The cheese melts thro the fans of the mushroom
Bloody beautiful!

Crank the bastard up

Slap the meat on the plate and grab a stubby

When approx half way through stubby turn meat

When finished Stubby put meat on plate and devour

If meat under cooked all good melts in mouth, if meat overcooked all good - charcol gets rid of plaque on teeth...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
