Never going to happen, the SANFL struggles for major sponsors, who is going to put up the cash to play an exhibition game mid year between two clubs who will just use it as an ego booster anyway. For the good of the local game the money would be better spent on the struggling clubs that cant win a game......

Its great for knowing where you're at in regards to leading teams in different comps (Morphies, Porties and Uraidla) but with the game against Cove it gives our pre season a fresh feel. A new challenge and hopefully the boys are as keen to play well in this game as we were in the same game against Morphies last year.
From what i saw of cove this year they are a bit smaller and rely on a running game which is good and Ando is a good coach.
Already looking forward to footy season, not enough happens over the summer months!

A little dramatic dont you think Bruce. Our 5 flags mean plenty, fill me in on how many you have! They also mean a LOT more than a cup played in the pre season. We all know the game is important, its a great advertisement for the game and the leagues. The 2 premiers from the previous season having a hit out the following year is great but to think a game in March is anywhere near as important as a premiership is a little off the mark.
Let me know how you go in the Messenger cup anyway Bruce.....ur playing in it right?
