Exactly.

Exactly.
Quite simple, if there is a better option on the table they would take it.
Gillespie scored a 200 and got dropped. Poor example but it's the first one that comes to mind.

He has the proven record and he adds so much versatility to a side that was shown to lack any during the tour of India. He is a true matchwinner and now that Australia no longer has a Gilchrist or a Warne/McGrath they need someone like Symonds who can turn a match in an hour of batting or by providing a crucial wicket here and there.

We dont need a spinner as insurance at the Gabba, especially given the recent weather.

I don't rate Johnson at all, if i could drop anyone in the side, he would be the one but the Aussie selectors keep persisting with him and captain Ricky is in love with him and over bowls him all the time.

And obviously the selectors do too, that's why they picked him. Why should they reward Watson with a spot, even though Symonds is clearly a better player?Pup wrote:rod_rooster wrote:Whoever misses out of Watson or Krezja can consider themselves unlucky but i think Symonds deserves to return. My thoughts on Watson are very similar Rod but the thing is people need to earn their spot in this side and Symonds simply has not done that since he was replaced, this isn't or should not be a side were you can regain your position because you are unbelievably talented yet have virtually shown none of that in the last month and a half at state level.
I have no doubt Symonds could and probably will make a big score against NZ in the coming tests if he is selected, but in my opinion Watson deserves his shot and should be rewarded for consistent performances on one of the toughest tours that we have had for a while.
