davis ran out by manou

It was Stumped as Manou is a keeper. Had Davis ran half way down the pitch and went back then it's run out, but as he just went out of his crease, it's stumped.

Given that the match was during the week cost the SACA about 500 people. Not that it's the SACA's fault, they don't pick when the matches are on.

Correct. You have to be attempting a run to be given run out.

They had to finish it today to get the one-dayer in on Sunday.

so if you're batting out of your crease, hit the ball to silly mid off and before you can get back in your crease he the throws the stumps down, you're suggesting this is a stumping?

thats not to bad i went to a day of the game here in Tassie last week and there would have been 30 people in the outer and about tha same in the members.

I dont think CA is worried about crowds at sheild games as 90% are all played during the week before or after a weekend ford ranger game this would also cut down the travel costs for teams.

A stumping has to be performed by the wicket keeper. If the batsman is not attempting a run and the wicket keeper breaks the stumps then it is stumped. If any other fieldsman breaks the stumps then it is run out.

The stupid thing about this though is that the Bowler gets credit for the Wicket in this instance.
Fair enough a spinner getting the wkt when he deceives the batsman in flight etc. but when a pace bowler bowls the ball and the batsman lets it go thru to the keeper and starts thinking about how many beers he's going to knock back after the game instead of stepping back in his crease, it would have to be the most Gifted wicket a bowler could receive.

True it is a gifted stat to the bowler but any batsman at any level getting "stumped" in this fashion is ridiculous. If you are stupid enough to be out of your crease by the time the keeper throws down the stumps you deserve to be out and also to be ridiculed mercilessly.

It's a gifted wicket altogether. But is it any more of a gift than a long hop hit straight down deep midwicket's throat? Sometimes in cricket players get credit for doing things despite not doing anything to deserve it.

Ridiculous indeed by Davis.

A long, long time ago in year 6 cricket our keeper had a ping as the batsman wandered out of his crease. He missed the stumps but the non-striker had turned his back and was pfaffing about and was run out as the ball rolled up the other end.
P*ss funny.
