The Australian Dollar.

Only a few months ago it was almost on parity with the greenback.

Today, according to xe.com, you will get less than 62 measly US cents for a South Pacific Peso.

And the biggest reason this gives me the sh1ts is that I'm typing this from a hotel room on the California central coast...

Toyota Spare parts quoting me $305 for a basic rim (and an extra $100 for a hubcap) when right next to the counter was their collection of fancy rims, with the highest one costing $270 :?

how the **** do they work that out?

I'm about to return to Japan for another holiday (was there in late July/early August). The room I stayed in Tokyo then cost me just over AU$70 a night. Now, because of the dollar, the same hotel is going to cost me about AU$120 a night. Graph: http://www.exchange-rates.org/history/AUD/JPY/G/180 Everything is going to cost close to double, it suddenly turned into a trip I can't afford. Really f***ed off!

Vodafone.

Organised global roaming on the mobile so's I could use it here in the USA. Was assured that all I had to do was turn the phone on when I got to the USA and it would work fine.

It didn't.

Spent 15 minutes on the phone to Vodafone's Australian service number. First got a machine. Took 5 minutes to get through to a human. The human just asked a bunch of questions and promptly transferred me to another human, who asked exactly the same questions. In the end she couldn't get the phone working. She said she'd raise a fault with the tech people, and I gave her my email address and she promised to send info as soon as she could. She hasn't yet.

This phone call was made from the hotel room, although I did use a Telstra phonecard service. Can't wait to see the bill.

Aside, has anyone noticed how international travel brings out a myriad of sh1tful things and experiences?

Haven't had too many, but I've never been f***ed around so much as when I had to change a couple flights on my round-the-World ticket.

Christmas...hate it anyway but having shops full of Christmas carp before Halloween and Bonfire Night have passed is just bloody ridiculous....

...and people who cover their houses in lights and decorations from 1st Dec through to the 6th Jan should be shot.

...and while I'm in such a good mood...fireworks...the country goes into overdrive to bring in extra anti-terrorism measures at the drop of a hat and panics over the huge rise in knife and gun crime among kids but is more than happy to let almost anyone buy explosives once a year. Now we have people letting the damn things off every night between now and Christmas. This one ain't just me...all my pet owning friends hate it too.

That's better    ...god I love this thread.

JAS

I heard that bloke the other day, gave an almighty blast to a certain bowler when he was put into the attack. That bowler was promptly put over the members fence on his first delivery. I laughed.

Park in the south car park (outside the Ridings Gates), only $8 for the day I think. It hasn't been full once this season, even when the Fox Sports trucks are parked in it for the telecast.

When you crack a good story.
Do allll the running on it and then the organisation puts out a press release before you can use the story, meaning other media can get all over it.
