Interesting Import allocations for 2009
HWE 4
Mallala 5
Balaklava 5
United 5
Two Wells 6
Hamley 7
Virginia 7
So there is a down side to snaging a premiership![]()
Looks like HWE are the only club to lose an import, every one else appears to be the same as last year
Apparently based on last 4 years performance, % of winning games will determine your import "allowance".

Thats interesting Jumbo. Does this mean that the constitution or by-law has changed? I thought that only the clubs could make changes to these at the League AGM. Has the AGM been held yet? I havn't spoken to anyone for a while so I'm not sure when this is or was.
Can the clubs over-ride this if the League AGM is still to be held? Maybe I'll head up to United's AGM tonight to find out (rather not though cause sitting in the pub all night is rather appealing).
I think you're right there Fester, in that us and Hummocks are the most disadvantaged in regards to population.

Hazbeen wrote:Import rule by population sucked, yes Balaklava has a high population but not considered is the number of players from other clubs (yes I'm looking at you Ace and MC) who live in the town.
Number of imports should be based on a combination of three factors; population, last years placing and average placing over a set period e.g. 5 years.

How many times must it be said! The blokes running the show have no idea. 1st' Virginia's population in 50% Asian! and not one plays football!do they allow for this?, As for the constitution they(APFL) do what they like and change the constitution when it suits them.Which is totally illegal in Australia! But we all will stand aside and let them(APFL) brake australian laws! TRUTH IS STAND UP OR SHUT UPjumbo wrote:Mythical Creature wrote:jumbo wrote:

I really don't know how this was arrived at MC - I hadn't heard anything either through "normal" channels. No APFL delegates have said anything at TW as far as I know.
I would think changes to the import rule would need to be discussed at club level, an opinion formed by the club and voted on at the APFL level. But we know from past years how some things are just pushed throughMercy rule, Robertstown are a couple of recent events ...

When have United stood up when they needed to? Won't stand up this year, Broad off to Kadina or Moonta or wherever. Whose going to coach them?

Heard a strong rumour Broady has applied for the Salisbury West Position? United have put out some feelers to Danny Ryan (GreenArces) to see if he was interested.

Longies get players from other clubs (now starting with juniors) so imports are no more important to them. The only way you can realistically assign imports is on recent past form. This runs along the same lines as the afl reverse order draft. Everyone just wants their club to get an edge over the rest.
