Can anyone shed any light on who this bloke is and what ability he is going to have when it comes to turning around the redlegs fortunes??
Carey Payne coached Eastern Park SAAFL Div 3 to the Prelim final, they were minor premiers but fell over when it counted. Had a few injuries which didn't help their cause. Has been at EP for a while as a player and a fair player too, getting on a bit now to play A grade but is handy in the B's.
Has pulled EP up the ladder and is held in pretty high regard out there. Might bring a couple with him.

Drove past the dog track the other day, saw a big sign advertising Friday Night Bingo apparently winning two games in a row you win the coaching gig.

B&S you are around the mark with your question , the SANFL has approached Mick for a vacant position within there ranks. His tireless work with the BL&G has lifted the comp from a rabble 2 years ago to a competitive level again equivelant to leagues in outback SA.

Can you outline the changes Mick has made to turn around the fortunes of the BLGFA?

There are numerous policies which Mick has implemented along with the support of the comittee. The import rule which allowed cellar dweller clubs like Barossa Districts win two consectuctive flags has now been rectified with Micks guidance and ongoing overview of the leagues clubs. Barossa Districts would of won 3 consectutive flags if it wasnt for a novice coach with no respect from his playing group.Freeling also have benefited from the large import concessions but were not able to capatalize .
Alot of work goes on behind the scenes Shrek , someone like yourself with little knowledge of grass roots football wouldnt grasp the concept of what is involved to be on a commitee.
Its a tough business , and you are not there to make friends. Micks hard work over the years has seen the BL&G blossom into the league it is today.
