But if their A's have the week off, it can be done with no consequence(injuries aside). The rule actually makes sense for the primary reason it is there for, unfortunately it doesnt work in all cirumstances, like for someone dropped after the last game of the minor round in the side that finishes on top, but its a nessecary consequence. If the rule wasnt there, for example a Prelim final with the A grade already through, Mt lofty decided to drop back Burch, Gordon, Wood etc into the B's to get them through to the Grand final, just for them to play A's the next week, would that be fair? imagine the out cry. So in my opinion the rule is fair and required, it just unfortunately has an unfortunate side effect.

I think you may have missed the point there BP. The example you describe is what happened last weekend which PN has said is fair enough but this week with both sides playing Mt Lofty should be able to put whoever they want in either side........and I don't even support Lofty.

Yeah i agree, who said they can't? Maybe someone could clear something up for me, was PN refering to the fact that the bloke was disqualified for playing last week? or has someone been told they cant play this week under the same circumstances?

correct confucious, the rule for when the A grade have a week off is fair enough (still has its problems) but its this week when we're both playing but on different days and players that are dropped from the A's, like any other week in the season, cant play in the b's. so he misses out on finals footy until we play on the same day again. thats one of the most unfair rules for players ever.

BP, he wasnt referring to the player last week. he was referring to a player that hasnt made the A grade side this week and therefore cant play in the B's either... but he would be able to play B's if we were both playing on the same day.

That is probably the biggest farce I have EVER heard of. What a f-ken joke.

Fair enough over last week, rules are rules, despite it being a crappy circumstance you'll cop that one sweet and move on.

But to have a player missing out because the sides are playing on different days is a complete disgrace.

Does anyone know what happens in the SANFL? Do they play the ressies and 1's on different days in finals time?

I believe Lofty did apply for a permit for this player but it was denied- It looks lke the HFL have cracked the devils fiendish plan to stack their b's in an attempt to win a glorious 4th flag in a row- that was sarcasm, what a bloody joke. Missing finals due to injury or just not quite getting a game due to form sucks enough, I couldn't imagine how f$#@%d it would be being perfectly fit, a walk up starter in the b's but having to sit it out on the sidelines because of beaurocracy (how the bloody hell do you spell that word anybody, microsoft word doesn't even know!). Let the children play HFL!!!

What a ******* disgrace. Owen and the HFL have really done it on this one.

Why would you deny a permit? I cannot think of 1 good reason and although I'm obviously biased on this one, FFS thi is totally unreasonable. Is it because they think we're 'stacking' the B grade? A player is not allowed to play both senior grades, so what's the frigging problem. It's not like we would hold a player out of the A Grade so they can help get the Supers over the line the following day  .

This is such a great incentive for both grades to go on and win both flags and stay a big F.U. to the HFL after all this.

The HFL should be encouraging as many people as possible to be involved in footy every week. That is what they are frigging there for.

Oh, and that's is probably the first time A1 Cooper has been referred to as 'perfectly fit'.

The only reason I can think off is that you are trying to keep both teams alive; ie "stack" the B grade beacause if the A grade lose, they have the double chance. Of course, for this scenario, you would have to assume that an automatic berth to the A Grade grand final is not worth as much as a B grade prelim! Ludicrous!!
Don't think it is Owen this time, pretty sure he has distanced himself from these situations. Some other guy (Sickerdick) making these calls.
Have spoken to the SANFL about it, the Hills league is the only one that interprets the rules this way, in every other league(and every other year in the Hills) as long as both teams are playing on the same weekend, any player can play anywhere.
We want Vaughn.

what if the B grade were on the Saturday and the A grade the Sunday? Could he play in the B grade side with the double chance? I know im asking a lot of questions about this rule but its the first i've heard of it and i'm just assuming its been put in place for a reason. maybe i should check the rule book of the HFL, find out that all players have actually meant to be wearing lipstick and parachute pants while playing. makes about as much sense as this rule.

Would be a great move for Bridgewater to make. Cornerstone college oval would almost be the best surface in the hills. Would help them with their recruiting that's for sure. I know of several high quality players in the past who were all but signed up to play for Bridgy but when they took one look at the facilities they did the bolt. Lets hope the move is made.

Absolutely, I'd rather play in the Bridgewater Coles car park than that shocker of an oval.

Correction....Cornerstone College oval would be in the top 10 surfaces in the state, it's immaculate! We may have to refrain from calling Bridgy the Shante's anymore playing out on that surface.

to any cornerstone boys, how windy does it get out there, not too much protection out there, is there???? would be kind of ironical, out of all of the teams in the comp, which would be the last ud expect to play at a private school grounds... bridgy for mine!! good luck to them if it happens though, this is one of the positive steps needed to keep them alive..

May be wrong but aren't there a complete LACK of facilities there?? Obviously toilets etc on Cornerstone site but somewhere near the oval would be handy for changing etc. Then again - anything's an improvement on what Bridgy currently have.
