LF, you must stop whinging about the Mail Medals - Pistilli is a worthy winner and that is all that matters. There have been and always will be discrepencies in votes on every game, not everyone sees the game the same. This talk takes a bit away from the kid. The whole point is the umpires got it right over the course of the year. And you should know as a junior coach it doesn't matter about how much you win by in colts football. You can win by your 10 goals and give other lads a run, there is a thing called particiaption. So give the % issue a rest, as that is what most teams did against the lower sides .
Getting back to football and one thing for sure after the results of the weekend is Willunga are home and hose. Both games did not reach great heights and the Demons will step up this week, as they do this time of year. Strath may have celebrated a little too hard after toppling Willunga in the dead rubber.

Toughcall i could not agree with you more. No one see's the game the same and i like the 10goal percentage max rule cos it gives more ground time to the lesser likes. Pistilli is a very worthy winner. the games i saw him play, he wins plenty of the ball and uses it brilliantly on both sides of his body.

Toughcall, I'm pretty sure that everyone (including LF) have congratulated Pistilli on his medal win and have all said it was well deserved. The points that LF makes are clearly valid.

Sorry, what points are clearly valid? That % is important in junior football and that because you win by 30 goals you have to have 1,2,3. It is minor and didn't affect the result. In the end the umpires got it right!

Toughcall, make sure you read posts clearly before jumping on someone.
LF only made 2 points. Not once did he mention anything about the importance of % in Junior football.
The 1st point he made was that it was hard to understand how a team has 47 scoring shots to zero and don't recieve the 1,2,3. The other point was about teams not scoring and players from that team getting votes. Kids or not, thats hard to understand.

This debate could go one for eva, the only thing I disagree with is that in the GSFL the Snr colts grade in Under 17-1/2's, in the SANFL the grades are under 17's and 19's yet they do not apply the mercy rule but encourage all players to go down and give it shot at playing in both these grades. GET MY POINT???
As for medal votes they will always be an argued topic, in jnr country footy its all about who does the flash things and touches the ball the most not who can do a job and lead his side to a victory.

I coach U14's and have a massive roatation system TC (36 players), which cost us a better position in the finals but yes, it is about participation especially at my level. My argument is exactly what turfie said. In regards to the fact that a team with 47 scoring shots to 0 would almost certainly have the 3 best players on the ground. But now that you mention the importance of %. At senior colts level, we are gearing these kids up for A Grade footy, so they need to be able to take the good with the bad. In the GSFL in 08 there are about 40 kids with A Grade experience so why put them in cotton wool with the 10 goal rule? As for the medal, I did say that the discrpencies generally do not affect the overall result and once again (for the 3rd time) I congratulate the winners of the juniors and senior colts medals.

Then the leading goal kicker for the Snr colts they could not tell us how many goals he had kicked or who was runner up, did they just take a guess and give it to someone they like?

One last thing by the time the saints table were given their meal they had to look at the breakfast menu, and eat while the snr colts count finished up![/quote]

Agree that the Sen. Colt goalkicking presentation was very poorly done. [-X

As for the Saints table being at the back and getting served last, well someone has to be Last and when 160 meals are served the last ones are always going to be a bit late. Thats life.
Also i'm led to believe that the Saints were meant to host the evening but declined so it's a bit rich that representatives of their club complain. [-X

Personally it was the 1st time i've been to one of these presentations and found it enjoyable, especially those L.Creek red wines. :drinkers:

Dont get all hyped up Jackpot. We weren't having a go at the LC Footy Club. The facility, wine, meals and service was great! But I would be 99.9% certain that league officials would have deliberately set us aside at the back. Personally if the U15 association coach was there and had to make a speech I would have set his table up in a convinient location. But thats what we love at the Saints. The challenge of not only the opposition but league officials as well. Keep it coming its been happening for years and will continue to happen so its no point banging our heads against the brick wall! ](*,)

By the way happy to take on board all positive and negative feedback after Saturday's final at Goolwa. You cant get better without feedback. As a special treat, all footy forum users will receive 1 free beer, wine or soft drink from me, when I am at the Bar working. Intorduce yourself using your forum name to receive this benefit.

I'm not hyped up LF, just a bit seedy.
Anyway, at least the League officials had your clubs Banner displayed last night.
I noticed 2 clubs banners were missing, Victor Harbors banner was apparently stolen at last weeks senior presentation and Lang. Creeks was left at home on Kevin Currens kitchen table.

I will make sure I come up and say hello LF. :partyman:

JJ I think Creek should hold their heads high after monday night, they are a very professional club and set a high standard that others in the GSFL need to work towards. You have to love the way the president (Gordy) strols around making sure everything runs smooth and things are taken care of, its great to see. What is his occupation limb?
