Cuzzy up to his old tricks again I dont like him.
different topic the quality of players coming through to senior ranks I think it is great that the under 17s comp is so even and competitve, you have to pat the coaches on the back there.
this comp being even is only going to develop both good and hard at it footballers. They have to play week in week out without knowing whether they will come top or a miss a place in the finals, when they go to senior ranks they will have an attacking style and a defensive style to their game and be a more accountable player.

Now Jelom that's a very valid point :)

Have a look at the premiership table Bruce and it is easy to see why it is so interesting. Close scores every week and an age group that is terribly competitive, skillful and full of the A grade players of the future. You obviously have not seen a game of senior colts this season? Please get value for your $5 and have a look, as well as enjoy the A grade game.

This could be wrong, but I think that McLaren has produced plenty of good individuals, who dominate too much. They play a style of footy that is fantastic at junior level but too many others dont get involved and dont learn anything. For example they smashed us in the juniors on the weekend but realistcally there were only 4 major contributors (Macca, Proctor, Ballas and Cameron). This wins games in junior footy but the remaining 18 kids are not learning anything by watching 4 players win them the game by themselves. The players that dominate develop bad habits and the others aren't cut out for senior footy beacuse they have never had any responsibilty. Having said that there is no real system to compare to considering Willunga are so dominant and McLarens have won 1 A Grade premiership in their short GSFL lives, which is more than a lot of others.

Please feel free to unleash some abuse on me if you disagree beacuse to be honest this forum as becomming too friendly.

to me that sounds like a glory seeking junior coach whos coaching for wins and not teaching kids to be good footballers.4 top juniors each year for 5 years and thats 20 players between 18 and 23 in the seniors. a good junior program is one that produces a grade footballers. its not about how many junior premierships you win.

but where do they go? maybe they just get fat and lazy and start eating to many pies. speaking of getting fat and lazy and eating too many pies maybe if LF got off the computer and ran 8km every day between now april maybe he could be the answer to the saints search for a chf?

Apparently that is the view of the u/14 Mclaren coach according to some parents. Any thoughts A Mum?

Gianni is very passionate about the Mclaren FC, unfortunately he wasn't blessed with the most athletic body going around but he gives his all when he's on the field.

Even if it is the view of some of the parents my son is taught that no matter who the coach is or what people think of him, he is the coach and you will respect him.

O:)

what a day you have all had. A. Mum I must say that I coached Zac Cameron several weeks back and yes he has a fantastic attitude and is a good lad. I also am glad that you agreed on my 'Colts Theory'. Bruce almighty I am not sure if you agreed but you have a very valid point about me getting off my arse and getting fit.

I was just thinking the same thing mate, of the coaches I know and the biggest one to stand out for me is Victors Grant Levy.

Levy is coaching victors senior colts =D> Could you get a better person to coach kids? (A Grade premierships, Association etc). Chris Rowntree 4 Myponga is good (Former A grade coach-Premiership player- 4 Time Mail Medalist) and with no U/17s going up next year they'll get better.
As for Gianni, yes he could close his trap but i've heard he and his family do alot 4 Mclarens. Its easy to sit back and critisize the people that put there hand up to do the hard work.

good point Magoo. I know we get a lot of stick at the Saints but you have to look at the big picture. Longevity is just as important as premierships. Clubs like McLarens and Saints who have a large number of local contingent will survive and success will come eventually if they stick to their guns. It may mean a few lean years but thats the way ir goes.

Fairly handy list but not all are good enough 4 A grade. Also didnt Pollard play most or all of his colts at Myponga? The Hill boys at the Shoes??
