Willunga what a great club with all 4 grades possibily playing finals football but on saturday i lost a lot of respect for your club great ape .After the junior colts game the umpires had to be escorted from the ground after 5 thugs were over heard talking about belting the umpire after the game. Then the abuse that came from spectators and team mates to the young lad who had a brain fade in the dying seconds of the senior colts match to loose the game for willunga was pi**week

Bays seem to have turned the corner winning comfortably on the weekend without Heuskes, Grant Brown, Weedinhoffer, Butler, Scott Baggs and Craig Littley after the 5 minute mark of the first I hear. Finished the game off with 20 players of which apparently 18 were fit and still accounted for Compass - would Burdett really have made a 7 goal difference?

Thats a big call after your first win against a top 5 side. I thought you may have played it down a little TC. Wouldnt want to get ahead of yourselves, remember Rd18 last year :-k

WOW I think you have read a little too much into this post - firstly by turning the corner I meant that they have strung some good wins together, secondly they have managed to beat a top five side without a string of first choice players. In my books thats doing alright and lets not forget confidence is a wonderful thing; I'm more than sure there are memories of round 18 last year big fella.

Just stiring big fella (living in the past for a bit) . Players confidence & belief is everything. If the Bays can keep winning and sneak into the 5, anything can happen in finals (apart from Willunga not winning the GF).

I was actually there at the end of the junior colts and sitting near the Willunga bench and I didn't hear or see anything untoward regarding the umps? I'm not saying that it didn't happen but nothing of the sort came to my attention. If what you say is true then I would be the first to say that those concerned should be banned from footy for life full stop.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Havent read much on here about a young lad named troy wilkey. after speaking with a few blokes that have played with him and burdett, they think he is as good if not better and could be what has turned encounter bay around this year. Are encounter bay paying him huge money or have they taken him while he is young and hasnt been approached by other clubs yet?

I think you will find it more the case of resourceful recruiting by the coach down that way; wilkey is a very good lad but the coin is irrelavant of his decision to have a kick at the bay. I'm not sure of comparisons to Burdett; thats interesting.

he got a bucket load and works his arse off; from what I saw of the game he also spent plenty of time in rotations from the pine.

Bassani may ruffle a few feathers around the league, but one thing is for sure he has got the club back into a chance for finals action. No one predicted that with all the outs over the past 2 years. No coach would have had to cope with as many disapointments as him. Will Bays resign him for next year? If Saints have resigned their coach for 2 then Bassani should get a 10 year term! Their list would be better than Bays.

It might not be a question of will they resign him. they might need to raise there pay when they offer to resign him for him to stay. There will be clubs chasing after him when he is out of contract.

Maybe Bas has a few user name on here P32 and he just likes to bring attention to him self??

Nothing is certin in country footy we all know that but from everything that has been said around the coast Billy Bas wont be getting the job next year at the bays. He may have pulled a few things together with his current list and be going alot better than most had predicted, but he also attracts alot of attention to the club for all the wrong reasons, is it just a coincidence that in the past two years other clubs have had problems with some of the bays on and off field behaviour?

haha they will be playing at the bay next week. Na credit where credit is due, with a massive walk out bassani had to deal with in 07, he has rebuilt the club to finals footy standard. Just dont put him 20 metres out straight in front he will shank it every time, hes better snapping at goal from outside 50. Dont think you can blame bass for attracting attention to the club for the wrong reasons, not sure of any incidents that have really occured.

Very true Cuzzy, one of the very few players you'd back from the boundary or outside 50 but the closer he gets to goal the more random the shots become - thank god the Bays retired him!
Kappars you really are on the outside looking in at everything football aren't you. It will be funny to read your expert take on the Bays future coaching come 09 - you really are a wanker which reflects in your clubs results.

My Club results? What club would that be Bas? If you read my post it was saying that Bas has taken the Bays to heights no one predicted so full credit to you for that. I am not making a statement about the attention you attract just simply using the forum for its purpose, passing on infomation that I have heard and read and asking questions not making a statement. If you object to what is said then that is fine maybe the coast is playing the rumour mill a bit like when Bas claimed to have hit Adam in the crown one night.

Willunga's Matthew Thomas appears to wearing protective padding across the shoulders(like gridiron pads)from a previous injury. My connections at the Creek are asking the league whether it has been approved,as it must be a huge advantage having the extra bulk.

A bit harsh. He's only asking a question. Has the padding been approved by the league?!
