Agree totally Boh, although i can't stand the crows, i don't like to see any player go down with a serious season ending injury.
Lets hope its not as bad as first thought, if it is i wish him well with his recovery.

Will be interesting to see if he goes for the traditional 12-month reco or the speedier Malceski type.

As much as i dislike The Birdman, he is a great player and is good to watch. Never know what is going to happen with him and usually puts on a good show.

Good luck Brett, hopefully we see you back playing some good footy next year.

He runs out of contract end of this year.
I believe he's looking seriously at the Malkeski type reconstruction.
Burton was ready to sign a lucrative $$$ contract before this mishap, I bet the Crows don't offer him anything like that now, Burton would be wishing now he signed that contract instead of holding out.
He was having a good year & apparently was holding out to win the goalkicking award to then put it on the club to get a huge ($$$$) contract once the year was over.

Burton cant get the Malkeski type reconstruction. he will have to get the normal recon and spend 12 months out of the game

I'd be dubious about his being able to come back from this injury to AFL level at that age, but I guess it is not impossible.
And yes I expect he would be offered a 1 year contract if he does.

Serious question:

If Burton does not get up* to speed and play at all next year (he would get back for 5 or 6 games at most) does he then get another 1 year deal for 2010?

If they were going to give him 1 year, why not 2?

With Burton being assured of at least one more year methinks Hentschel will be delisted.

I'd imagine that by this time in 2009 the Crows would be able to work out whether it was worth offering him another year in 2010 or shake his hand and say "Goodbye". One year now is buying the chance of his early or full recovery, while not committing to the extra year.

I think Hentschel will get one year too for the same reason. Bassett has announced his retirement, and there is still uncertainty about the intentions of Edwards and McLeod.

EDIT: Thank you Booney - typo corrected.

Mcleod and Edwards will play on next year for sure and beyond that who knows. Edwards is having a great year in the top 20 players for possessions and still contributing. Mcleod has had a few niggles but still very much plays his role well.

Yes, FS, I think you are right. McLeod possibly depends on what his knee is like, and whether it can recover over the break.
