Is this a problem in all club umpired games, or are these type of umpires the exception rather than the rule?

The club umpires system is terrible for the game. You really get some pretty biased stuff out there. But theres not alot anyone can do about it. The umpiring system at the moment is in trouble and the SAAFL need to put a bit of time and effort into this area. I have a few ideas about how this can be improved.

For God's sake, please get those ideas into action urgently. I saw one yesterday that had very little idea and he was in Div 1.

I'd love to watch teh b grade between st peters and Woodville south.

It would be more about the umpires then the players. See which umpire can out-cheat the other.

I must say i've seen the Woodville South B grade umpire in action a couple of years ago, i presume its the same one today, what an absolute cheat he is.
One day a Woodville Sth player was sent off by the opposition's umpire & rightly so but then this clown of an umpire ( woodville sth's ) sent a player off from the opposition just to even it up, the player was gobsmacked to why he was sent off ( he did nothing ).
If that same prick is umpiring still today well the Amateur League needs to take a real good look at themselves as there was an umpires official at that same game & i just wonder if the official that day actually did anything about it, probably not.

yeah Roy apparently said you left the club so the door is closed to you know.
I think it could be on the lines of certain people bagging Centrals at Kilburn but this player's heart is still a doggie.
Might have changed his feelings for the club after he was told they dont want him.

Stengle was always a Central boy at heart, born and raised in the area. The lack of faith that the Doggies have in their home-grown talent is appalling though, and the lack of respect they give to their Under 17s and 19s is to blame, so nobody wants to play there. Laird wouldn't care about Stengle, they'll just buy some more from interstate to fill their reserves next year anyway.

Mumbles I presume you saw Para Hills v Salisbury on the weekend? What did you think?

Very interesting reults from the weekend. has this changed peoples opinions on where clubs might finish? Walkerville seem to be in great form, Kilburn lost two on the trot and are now fourth (with unhappy players), flinders claim top spot by percentage, Boozehound tears a hamstring (just a little one).....all very interesting except maybe the last one.

makes for an interesting finals series....

With Flinders Park picking up a good ruckman in Fruanfelter and Smithy kicking goals up forward you would think FP would be favourites to win this year now. I guess the money they paid to get Frauny will be worth it if they win!

A little harsh pag?

Stengle left the club andthe club moved on. Can't start letting players dictate things or we might as well shift the club to Noarlunga.

Regarding your other point, I suggest you go through the list and see how many are locals and how many are recruits. You'll be very surprised.

I thought Para Hills were always in control without the game reaching any great heights. I do think that you were out coached or is it just that the cupboard is a little bare at the moment. Hanson played on one leg and still kicked 5 up to half time before he was rested. I thought Salisbury were too slow around the ball and stopages.

Haha, mate you know my views will always cloud the reality. From my metro Smartplay Cup team only one bloke is still on the senior list at Centrals, and one got drafted. I know of at least 7 or 8 blokes in that Under 15 team, and we were a fair side, we won the competition, who should've been playing 17s and never got a game. There were Barossa lads who weren't as good but got picked due to a certain coach, and the club lost 8 or 9 very good footballers that year. The one still there, you can probably work out who, should've got a crack at league footy by now but is trying to compete with interstate blokes playing reserves.

That is from the metro side, the country side weren't as good but still have 4 players on the senior list.

I understand Stengle left on his own accord, and if Laird doesn't want him back then fair enough, but my interest is why he left in the first place. I know Kilburn threw good coin at him, but I have the feeling there's a bit more to it than money.

I thought Para Hills were always in control without the game reaching any great heights. I do think that you were out coached or is it just that the cupboard is a little bare at the moment. Not sure if out coached was correct, don't think Beer made any moves that were necessarily match-winning. Hanson was spoon-fed by the midfield, got some excellent delivery from Jarvis, Page and the like. Was a liability in the second half when his man kept running off him.

Credit to Para Hills though, they outplayed us.

Has the person behind the No-Mercy moniker changed? Six months ago I would have expected hell to freeze over before you said I had my finger on the pulse!

I've been on the Walkerville band wagon for a while. They are hot and cold as evidenced by their start to the season but any team with about six 6'6" blokes is dangerous. They were obviously intimidated last time at EP and with all of their games against the top 5 at home coming up they should be a real contender.

The comments from certain posters above would suggest that what i witnessed last Saturday was not an isolated occurrence for this particular gentleman. Makes me wonder how these teams perform in finals, when they dont get the help from the umpires that they have been used to throughout the season.
