Winning or Losing I'm sure he still would have looked funny.

i think the only people that got anything out of it would be the u/23's as they were using it as a tune up for a bigger competition. There wasnt any feeling or passion in the game and that was reflected by the poor turnout to watch. If Thebby oval wasnt under the Virgin Blue flight path then the place would have been as quiet as a morgue.

I think it might be time to abandon the u/23 amateurs Vs majority of SFL u/25 with a few exceptions.

SAAFL are playing as an SA rep team and get to wear the State colours whereas I'm not sure how much pride is given to wearing the Maroon and White SFL strip. Even at community level, the club over association mentality has become no different than what State of Origin footy had become. I'm wrapped that 4 Brighton lads put their hand up to play, but with a couple it was under a bit of sufferance. These lads have been doing pre-seaon since December, played 3 trials against quality opposition and then started SFL season with 5 very tough physical games, before having a couple of easier games. These blokes were looking for a weekend off and I'm sure it was the same for many others.

He does have a BOG medal in an A grade Grand Final - pretty sure he was playing against men that day......

Almost everyone i think would like to see him at the very least playing A grade in the SFL as he quite clearly has bags of ability. But i dont think there is a law stating that if your good at footy you have to follow a path that everyone wants you to.[/quote]

your along time finished your junior footy and on top of that Bodey has got himself a job and has put that ahead of his footy. Its ok for everyone else out side the Emus to bag him but at the end of the day at least he is still playing footy and at the club he loves.I have coached this lad and he is a bit differant,a bit of an introvert and not a confident lad so at the moment we are quite happy for him to play in the u18.Ithink he will play A grade in the next few weeks and has made it clear that he keen to do this.
If the only reason you play is for a beer with your mates after the game, your playing for the wrong reasons !!

Poor comment IMO- what is the difference with young Bodey wanting to play with his mates in the U/18s and the heap of blokes who play B/C grade every week because they cant be arsed training and just want to play a game with their mates? (There is a plethora of players in the lower SFL senior grades who could play A grade if they really wanted to).

FFS Fitzy was languishing in the Porties B grade before he suddenly found the fire and jumped from there to A grade to SANFL to AFL in 3 years... Nothing to say Bode cant do the same thing, IF that is the direction he wants to take.

I say good luck to the kid- he won an A Grade best on ground in a winning Grand Final team. Something I never came close to and I dare say no-one who posts on here has got close to.

Reports (and memories) are hazy but a few Emus players/affiliates were involved in a wine fuelled melee at McLarens on the Lake, but it certainly wasnt a showdown against any rival SFL Clubs or an "SFL Turf War" as being reported on here!

Sorry for not being specific enough... the fight was nothing to with football or against another football club.

Do you at least like the term "SFL Turf War"???

CT with a phrase like 'SFL Turf War' I can see a burgeoning carrer for you at the 'tiser' editorial department or perhaps the Argus cheif football writer.

Thanks for the update but does not seem to be too much in it.. down the hills source must have had to much sauce on the day..

it unfortunately looks like the next few weeks will see some lop sided results. with the top sides not playing each other again until round 14 (i think). beginning with this weeks games:

Marion v Reynella
OSB/Lons v Pt Noar.
Aldinga v Flagstaff H.
M/Vale v Noar.
M/Ville Pk. v BDOS
Hackham v Cove
Chr Beach v H/Valley

Not sure if they will all be lopsided surely Cheese Twisties mates' confidence would be sky-high at the moment. Might give the Bombers a run for there money on the Pastie.

The wineflies might start too find it a bit harder to score goals i have heard it on good authority that Milo has returned to south and started training as off tonight... They are also after Mckenzie from the vikings, if Baxter can get a league game there they may aswell play the Morphetvale b grade at south...

to Baxters credit he is the leading goal kicker for the reserves and is up there in the league.
The guy is always at the front of the pack when doing the runs and has trained out there 2 years in a row. why not give him a crack?
Your attitude is the same as south in previous years. maybe thats the reason why south have been so bad. They never give all the blokes a go just there favourite players.
Good on Clay for giving baxter a go and hope he gets another league game...
