Sorry to disappoint you OL coz I get the impression you think that is why he did get picked, but truth be known Willo watched him played against Mallees and asked him to play......

TO7, best players today as given by the coach were Jas Burgoyne, Rory Hunt, Levi Smith, Ross Campbell, hayden Parker & Carl Semmler..

thanks scooby. Did Harry Miller play? I thought he was poor on saturday. How have you seen his form since arriving here?

Harry kicked 6 today then came off at 3/4 qtr time. We heard Port Magpies aren't too happy that he was playing.. He said he is going back to adel 2mora to see them.

I dont think anyone can say the best team didn't win this years Mortlock.
I thought the carnival lacked something this year and just went through the motions. The viewing when it rained was terrible and I thought that a town of your size should have some sort of decent set-up. You may as well have been at Yeelana or any country oval for that matter, whats the difference? The crowds were poor compared to when I came down last year and even the Monday night drink at the hotel across the road finished at 9pm (thats why Im home early rather tipsy) :drinkers: . No body seemed interested, maybe they are getting bored with us winning all the time? If Far West and Whyalla are not going to put effort in then maybe we should look at only 4 teams next year.
Eastern Eyre put up a brave performance in the final. They had no right to push us as they did with the side they had. I think a few of our lads became a bit complacent besides Jamesy who tried his heart out but let himself down with his disposal again!. We dominated the rucks and once the Tumby mosquito fleet get going it was all over. Jeffo was good and the Curtis's just keep racking them up. It was good to see we could do it without Gus and Tractor as they left it to the younger players which was a nice touch I thought.
SO its Great Flinders Mortlock Champions again. Champion side and full of champion people. We answered the critics again and have set a standard that you others have to rise to.

No offense to you GG or any of the Great Flinders squad, members, association etc, And not critising the Mortlock officials, but the groups this year weren't good as far as a well rewarded outcome is concerned. We had the 3 weaker leagues in one group and the stronger 3 in the other. Lincoln weren't good enough on Saturday and deserved their result, Mid West i'm not so sure about. From what i've heard they might have been a little unlucky to been pulled back onto the field and if that hadn't happened GF wouldn't have won and so on and so forth. Not sure what the whole point of this post was, but maybe some more thought into designating groups in future years and also the fact that Mid West could possibly be just as deserving of the trophy as GF :?

I dunno but would've thought that the 2 groups would've been drawn out of a hat? Seems the only fair way to do it from year to year.

The draw is worked out from the previous years final results. 1st, 3rd and 5th play in group1.
We had 1800 paying customers through for the weekend. Slightly down on last year.

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

Im glad Campbell didnt break Burgoynes goal kicking tally of 14 in a Mortlock match as apparently George did it in the final match against an EP full back. Nothing against Campbell but it would have been a total injustice for him to equal or break the record given the opposition they had and the fact no one cared about the match.
Anyone else think the same?

I was just thinking why we couldn't have played Far West on Saturday.
So next year we have FW & EE in our group. Mid West GF and Whyalla in the other.
