Fidel Edwards might be in a bit of trouble. He want base over apex on the way in for his first delivery and now he's off the field. Play was delayed today due to a wet outfield this might be the cause of the slip. Australia 0/12 in the third over.

14.2 overs in with 36 on the board, and as I type Bravo gets a wicket, its Jaques who is out to an easy lREBw decision.

Boys, most of you should stick to the footy. About 70 percent of you have written off a bloke who has come off a record amount of runs in the toughest domestic league in the world because he failed in a test with hardly any time in the middle since the Moo Moo final, just because he isn't as good as Hayden or Langer.

Well, newsflash people, we aren't going to see another Hayden or Langer for quite some time as those blokes were the most (or one of the most I'll leave the stats to someone who DOES know what they are talking about in spelly) successfull opening combinations in test history. It is time to judge some of these newer players on their on merits and give them a chance. Posters who are suggesting a high rotation of players through the national side are clearly too young to remember the 1980's when we were at our lowest point in 130 odd years of Test history.

SAFootynets Test Cricket 'Little Shop of horrors'

One poster who bags Katich is a Shane Watson fan LMFAO.
More than one suggestion for an out of form Mike Hussey to open the innings.
One poster suggesting that if Cosi wasn't fat he'd be in the national side. Er..no, you need concentration and technique as well.
Suggestions that young Phil Hughes be elevated at the expense of the Kat. We are number one because we cook our cricketers in the shield until they are ready and even though the kid can play he isn't ready just yet.
A poster who says there is a massive gap between Shield and Test cricket yet the Windies are carp.
Someone else wants Shaun Marsh. A promising player but he doesn't have the runs on the board like The Kat or Hodge (who is not one my 'pets' 8) ).
Someone complaining about run rates in test cricket LOL.
Let's drop the Kat - he's had one test to prove himself even though he made runs in middle order, not as an opener.
Lets open with Watson, include Marsh and go in with no spinners. Might as well call ourselves South Africa. England would applaud this move.
Beau Casson in the 12.
Another poster suggesting that it had been proven that neither Hodge or Katich were up to test standard. I'd hate to have that poster in a jury!

There is no doubt that the Kat is an ugly batsman to watch with a technique that is all of his own but he is very effective and CAN PLAY in the longer form of the game. If the Aussies put him back at the top order of a one dayer I won't be happy with that but Katich has clearly earned his stripes. Hodge, a player I can't stand (and I'm not sure why but hey least I can admit it - I still reckon he's suspect against spin) is also good enough to play Test cricket and we must judge them based on results AND opportunities that have been provided to earn those results.

Even though we are online and anyone can 'join in the fun' (and it has been fun this morning ha ha) we can get very insulated on SAFooty.net. If you were to repeat any of the pearls of wisdom above in garbage green on a site with an international audience such as C4 you would cop such a severe flaming it would pale in comparision to what I will cop if the Kat finishes the series with three straight donuts LOL.

The year of the Kat continues!!. For those of you who do know what are you are talking about, you know who you are.
