Mckee used to play up in Darwin. Dominated. Comentators loved him. Nicknamed him Dumpty. Has a great pair of hands, very agile. "Plugger" like.

Both have had a good preseason and played well in the trials. Curyer came off with an ankle injury during last Saturdays trial but shouldn't be a problem for round 1

Bassplayer, does it look like Baxter and Dean will get much of a go out at South ressies or would you expect them to play majority of the year with the Lions?

It's hard to say. They've both had a solid pre-season with south but have been in and out of the team so far. Though from what I hear they both should get a decent opportunity out there this season. We'd love to have them both playing for the Lions each week but its great to see them progressing and making the most of their talent (even if it is at South)

In one senctence tunit you seem to ask what he is like and then in the next you are bagging the bloke out? so have you seen him play and if so what was your opinion. It would be intresting to hear from the blokes who played out at the lions to give an opinion of how he played on saturday. Was no 19 i think ff/chf. I think once he gets a little more used to the way we deliver the ball and to him and a little use to our structures could be handy for us but thats about it. Will never dominate the comp but will give a contest and help our forward line structure a little. I think a few people are talking him up on here trying to get a reaction out of people and so far have been successful. :)

LTTF I agree, I have seen him play Div 3 footy at Eastern Park. Will be serviceable for sure but won't tear it up. Seems to have done a good preseason (which he seriously needed) and that will help his mobility....

How many did he kick on the weekend?

Will struggle against the top 8 sides?? How many sides up there? Who won't he struggle against in that case?

In that league, which from all reports would be no better than div 3-4, he should be okay...

from what i hear from south is that they have cut gary dean so he should suit up for lonsdale, heard they cut him before the first week then they got him back to play round 1 then he didnt get much of a chance playin off the bench then after that he was the cut from the trainin squad so not sure whats the go, but lonnie full time is what i heard, curyer wasnt the only one who went down with a ankle injury sargood and schulzt also went down with ankles not the best with a tough game first up

Yeah 3 ankle injuries from Saturday but all should suit up this week.

As for Gaz, i don't know where you get your info from but its not correct. He's still there with South and more than likely will be for most of the season (pending his form of course)

Does anyone else think that Boozhound is an idiot? If he had any idea he would realise that there are 14 sides in our competition so the 'he will struggle against the good sides' comment is fair enough.

As for the SFL being div 3-4. Keep dreaming mate! Much higher standard than that!

Righto Boozehound, so you have never ever seen an SFL game? Maybe you should head down South and check one out before just labelling us a div 3/4 league!

14 teams just so you know, and with various ins from the SANFL, SAAFL, GSFL, and apparently as far as Port Lincoln for season 2008, you'd have to say up to 6 clubs are in with a red hot shot, and some of the recent celler dwellers are showing big signs of improvement. Boozehound you are welcome to head down south for Round 1, i reccomend Brighton vs Reynella or Porties vs Cove. Also dont be alarmed if you hear car horns and rampant applause when a goal is kicked - we still let people park their cars around the oval, it adds to the atmosphere! From all reports you dont even have atmosphere at your SAAFL grounds?!

I have played in the SFL. There are that many teams that it is impossible to describe the entire league in a narrow bracket. Bottom few are div 6, middle are about div 4, teams 8-4 are about div 3 and the top couple of teams would be borderline div 2/1.

Ha ha, thought that might fire a few up....

To be honest had no idea there was 14 teams so I apologise for that.

However from Big Shrecks assessment who has played both, seems I was around the mark....and perhaps overated it...with the exception of the best few teams which seems a common thread among football leagues outside the SAAFL. Comps are too uneven with the bottom half well below the top half. oh well atleast half the season is competetive....but is that really wat you want...

P.S. Grow a thicker skin if you can't handle your comp being critisied at all....

Yep Morphette Vale has won the last 4 in SFL and Willunga has won the last 4 in GSFL.
Should that be any different to Goodwood Saints run of wins..?

What comparison are you trying to draw?
