GET A KICK wrote:Onkas, Seems to be a big call by saying that bomber wont play against the s--t teams. They were playing porties on the weekendand he didnt play!!! So does that mean that, this is how the cobras rate the divers........... Well all i would have to say is......... how right they were with the cobras having a very easy win!! If bomber was only playing one game for the year i would hope to be there to watch it!! What a champ he is!
Most of the results went according to predictions!! Cant wait for a few upsets! There are a few good games this week.

You would think based on those results that BDOS's B Grade would have accounted quite comfortably for Marion's A Grade as well.
Split the league again into Divisions or clubs will go by the wayside.

Do you think that two divisions is actually viable though? Is there enough teams or would you include Kangarilla again? I don't see how two divisions will work not enough teams. Marion were part of the old division one aswell.

I see what you are saying Bubbles but something needs to be done - and sooner rather than later. The focus on the weaker clubs is generally paramount in these conversations but what of the strong clubs? They continually find it difficult to attract players because the comp is how it is..how long before they seriously sit down with the SAAFL and jump ship. Don't think it would happen? I can tell you with some authority that it has been discussed. How do you think the SFL would look without Reynella,MorphettVale,Happy Valley & BDOS? Fairly sick I suggest.
Maybe the solution is not to have 2 Divisions. This comp would be pretty attractive:
MorphettVale
Reynella
Happy Valley
BDOS
Flagstaff Hill
Port Noarlunga
Noarlunga
Cove
Aldinga can go to the Great Southern or fold. Christies could play Div 6 amateurs,Hackham - fold,Lonsdale - fold, Marion - Div 6 as well (your point about Marion being in the old Div 1 doesn't hold water with the mess it's in now),Morphettville Park - fold. Believe me when I say I hate seeing clubs disappear (and bear in mind I played a lot of footy for one of those clubs I nominate as needing to pack it in) but the reality is that they are running on extremely borrowed time as it is. A strong league would have ejected them two years ago.
I keep banging the same drum...footy has never been sicker than it is right now and unless suburban leagues like the SFL stop trying to appease and prop up the poverty row clubs they will have little left to administer in the shortterm.

I agree something does need to be done I am interested in why you think Christies don't have a place in the SFL?? this would make an uneven number of teams I know but surely they are strong enough to stay in this comp especially if a few of the clubs around them folded.

Old and Grey wrote:Some of these sides you have mentioned for your little comp on its own where not that long ago getting smashed themselves by the margins that the sides you want to get rid are currently being beaten by. When you are successful it is easier to attract players, kids and money to continue in that vain. I'm sure some of the clubs you are wanting to get rid are very proud clubs with a lot of tradition and will not just fall over. Maybe the powers that be run the league need to have a good hard look at themselves as it appears it all becomes a bit too hard to try to balance the league up!
