I didnt really care who won to be honest but like others I'm pleased that D-Mac has another ring.

I grew up barracking for the Giants and was in awe of the guy. Absolute Champion and true gentleman.

Speaking of former Giants, David Stiff wins his 6th NBL ring, knocking off the previous record of 5 by Larry Senstock.

I was really annoyed when Sydney took the leading edge by winning on Wednesday especially with Boy G running around the court like a moron.
Absolutely stoked they got caned.
Every club BoyG goes to might win the occasional championship but it is any coincidence that most clubs he goes to goes bankrupt?
In the 80s and 90s all we hears was that when the NBL had a championship in Sydney it would take off, ever since Sydney won one the league has gone backwards.
I'd love to see them go under, bring it back to the regions that really have a love of baskeball.

Well just got back from a mates house were we watched the final then the Cavs and the Wizards.

Well done to the Tigers, were very good and made their run at exactly the right time. Congratulations to D-Mac on a great career and Dutchy was spot on, one of the greats.

Is Chris Anstey one of the most arrogant sportsmen in Australia or not?

How many championships has David Stiff won now?
My maths might be a little bit out but by my calculations he's won about 37.

An ideal NBL would be -

Perth
Adelaide
Melbourne
Sydney/Wollongong merge
Brisbane/Gold Coast merge
Townsville/Carins merge
Darwin (Singapore move to Darwin keeping its Asian links)
New Zealand

8 teams and quality competition, bit like the A-League, they need to contract to get better long term.....

ha ha, merging Cairns and Townsville would be like merging the Crows and Port, similarly with Sydney and the Gong.

You can add the Brisbane Bullets as being in definite trouble as well.

NBL could be no more if several teams die off...

yes they are 2
that abc child care guy is owner and iwth what's happened to him lately may well see them go 2

THE Brisbane Bullets are up for sale after Eddy Groves today announced he was ending his ownership of the 2006-07 NBL champions.

And Brisbane's players have offered to take across-the-board pay cuts to keep the NBL foundation club from folding.

You could compare it as a sport, especially to league as its been around since 1891.
I could tie this in with the Simpsons v Family Guy thread on the Entertainment Forum nicely as it was created and played in Springfield!
If you want to compare the NBL with the AFL or NRL have a look at which 3 letter acronym has been around the longest too!

THE Brisbane Bullets are up for sale after Eddy Groves today announced he was ending his ownership of the 2006-07 NBL champions.

And Brisbane's players have offered to take across-the-board pay cuts to keep the NBL foundation club from folding.

TIME is fast running out for the owner-less Brisbane Bullets with skipper Sam Mackinnon and other players set to fly the coop by the end of the week.

Like several players, Mackinnon is sweating on an answer about Brisbane's NBL future by week's end.

If there's no positive news he could be forced to accept offers from either current champions Melbourne or South Dragons.

Brisbane is believed to be in talks with a potential white knight but no details are known.

The players, including Mackinnon, have been loyal to the Bullets since owner Eddy Groves announced he was bailing out last month.

But Mackinnon, anxious to know more about the latest talks, said today time was running out fast.

"We've been told something may happen over the next day or two," the multi-Olympian said.

"They've kept everything confidential, even from the players, which doesn't help.

"I can't afford to sit around and wait for a potential buyer to come in, I'd be silly to do that.

"The reality is if you wait around a few months to see what happens you may not have a team.
