According to the ABC News, the ICC really had no choice. Cricket Australia withdrew the charge of racial vilification themselves, downgrading it to abusive language . Not sure if that was reported correctly, but that is what ABC News stated.

Don't think that is the case, my info is that the Aussie Cricketers and Cricket Australia are seething at the decision made, let alone the decision now by the ICC to pursue charges against Andrew Symonds for allegedly telling untruths, this decision smells big time but I aint saying what it smells of cause I haven't work it quite out. I quite look forward to the hairless man bowling to Roy in the one day series, I can see the ball disappearing a long long long way

Not sure that Roy is in too much trouble for saying untruths. However, I did hear the judge cite Michael Clarke out for changing his story between the two appeals. He was incensed by Pup's change of story.

Justice John Hansen from New Zealand, an experienced judge and completely independant arbiter has made his decision on all the evidence presented.

There should be no reason to suggest that he did not make the correct ruling.

The most crucial bit of evidence the stump mic, India got banned from being used....To me that reeks and shows that Harby was guilty.
If not guilty, let them use the stump recordings....easy.

3 matches always seemed a bit extreme to me TBH

I wonder if we would have been spared all this drama if the match referee had taken his foot of the penalty pedal a bit at the time

Who knows?

Regardless of that, threatening to go home if the decision doesn't go your way just isn't cricket to me
In between signatures .....

India didn't appeal the sentence, they appealed the charge.

Oh dear it doesn't get any better, now an apology from the powers to be of World Cricket stating they forgot to produce similar fact evidence of Singhs previous behaviour record to the appeal Judge, forgot or just didn't want to bring it up, still reckon this all has a very bad smell to it all

Retrial? Non submitted evidence surely would allow the decision to be looked at...

That would not be evidence .It may effect a sentence but not the outcome of the charge.
The man was found not guilty ....staggering reading here

Delighted though by all the" I support black people" idealism .I am thinking of an official apology to the stolen generation SAfooty petition and maybe a Native title petition as well as everyone is so deeply concerned about our countrymen of black skin.

WTF? Although I don't condone racial abuse/sledging whatsoever, the point is, is that Singh said it. He didn't refute that. I think most people would be more peeved off at the way the Indians have carried on a song and dance and sooked and threatened until they got there way.
Hence that's why I would love to see Singhs original ban stand, as the ICC have kowtowed to the Indians. If the Indians took it on the chin like they should off, there would be nothing left to say...

Locky, it was too, a word like tikimanka was the one that was stated to be used rather than monkey.
