I've been seeing this creep in a bit at local level, umpires refusing point blank to even engage with players who approach them in a respectful manner, seeking clarification. Now, to see it at the highest level, it's really disappointing, as respect is a two way street. Just because you have a whistle, it doesn't make you God.
Some of the best umps I've had always engaged in chat, some sledged even, and they were the first to put their hand up if they were wrong. Sadly, this part of the game is going the way of the dinosaur.

He's hypersensitive about the clear conflict the AFL approved.

I thought Greg Swann was a level headed old school bloke, he's already been muted by the AFL I reckon because if it was up to him he'd have got them on a room to talk it out, not a tribunal hearing.

On SEN this morning, there is a rule in the Rules of Football that the umpires are not allowed to discuss a report with anyone

Oh, so they trot out the "Rules" when convenient huh, but "interpretations" are ok?

7AFL posted the (some) audio last night, but for mine it's clearly been edited and only further confuses matters.
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19y6itDFFv/
You can hear the umpire fine.
The crowd is way louder than normal.
You hear butters say two words, which might be "you pay", but nothing else.
If it was unedited, you'd hear butter's full statement, not just two words, and the crowd noise wouldn't be anywhere near as loud.
If you can trust the audio from that 7AFL clip, and align it with what butters said directly after the game in the maguire interview (https://www.facebook.com/share/r/18k2qm2kFD/ - how is that a free kick?), and the reaction of both butters and wines when informed of the report after the goal (https://www.facebook.com/reel/1391964109281351 - butters says "we can ask you mate", foot then says "I'm reporting you" and butters replies with "for what"), then you can make some assumptions and come to a conclusion, but it's messy.
For mine, Butters has said "how do you pay that?" and foot has misheard it to be "how much do they pay you?"
Foot has misconstrued the situation given he knew he got the initial free kick wrong, and is also hyper sensitive about his own bias and conflicts with sportsbet.

This is my take on it.. I agree.

A - Butters gets fined ( Port appeal )
B - Tribunal doesn't reach an outcome until we've all gone to bed
C - Found not guilty
