I'm a big fan of state footy, but I can't possibly think of a way this match could be rendered more pointless. Who do they expect to watch?

The SANFL Football commission is dead-set on destroying the competition.

We all need to exert pressure on our club leaders to force the commission to be disbanded.
Then build a new group with people who care about the SANFL.

I will be sending some challenging emails to commission members this week.
Any one else feel this way?
Don't look at me in that tone of voice.

I think most of us feel this way but the SANFL are puppets to the wants and needs of the AFL, who don't care about this nor the feeder leagues. Throwing this set of leaders out and replacing them won't fix anything unfortunately.

AFL talent scouts, of course. How better to cater to our AFL overlords than to have the cream of both leagues strutting their stuff in an AFL venue?

And lets be honest if it wasn't a curtain raiser in front of the AFL's eyes how many of the players would have niggling injuries preventing them from playing.

As sad for us die hards as it is the players want these games played at the biggest venues, they want these games played with their best chance to impress infront of the right people.

Sadly, there are no more Garry McIntosh 'F the AFL' types anymore.

2025 SA U18 v SA U20 Team Selections

South Australia’s exciting talent will have its opportunity to shine when the SA U20 team tackles the SA U18 team at The Parade on Saturday.

Starting at 2.30pm, the annual SA Talent Clash will serve as an important tune up to the AFL National Championships for the SA U18 team while SA’s U20 players will also be afforded a valuable opportunity to shine in front of AFL recruiting staff.

Coached by Tony Bamford, the SA U18 team will have as many as 29 players rotate through as it looks to fine tune before the opening clash of the Marsh AFL National Championships on June 1.

West End State Team named for 2025 KIA State Game

The West End State Team could have as many as five players make their debut against the WAFL in Saturday’s KIA State Game at Adelaide Oval.

The Croweaters have named emerging Woodville-West Torrens ruck Jordan Lukac to make a start against the Sandgropers as SANFL looks to win its sixth clash in succession against the WAFL in retaining the Haydn Bunton Junior Cup.

Uncapped Croweaters Rhett Montgomerie, Mani Liddy, Blake Drury and Jack Watkins have all been named on the six-player extended interchange bench, with one player to be trimmed before the bounce of the 100th meeting between South Australia and Western Australia.

West End State team coach Darren Reeves put his team through its paces on Wednesday night at Glenelg before heading to Prospect on Thursday night before the 11.30am curtain-raiser to the Port Adelaide v Geelong AFL match.

North Adelaide speedster Frank Szekely has been injected into the forward line to add some X-factor while Fos Williams Medallist Casey Voss will provide plenty of drive from his wing.

Norwood premiership backman Jack Heard slots into a key defensive post in place of Max Proud while Magarey Medallist Will Snelling returns to prove plenty of ball-winning ability inside the centre square.

Among the players unavailable for selection are injured trio Flynn Perez (foot), Jack Hayes (knee soreness) and Jez McLennan (calf), while Proud is being managed.

The WAFL will be captained by debutant Christian Amerduri while former Port Adelaide wingman Taj Schofield will start from the interchange bench.

The KIA State Game will be screened live and free via SANFL Now.

Its not a state game, call it what it is, a MSD draft preview which has more interest from the AFL clubs than the state clubs they represent.

Is the u20/u18 game streamed on SANFLnow?

I might be barking up the wrong tree here but is there an uncanny correlation between players known to be on the AFL mid season draft radar and those suddenly selected for the state team? I guess it’s logical that in form players are both getting noticed and rewarded but Liddy and Szekely stand out along with newcomers to the SANFL in Drury and Watkins

The SANFL HQ make it very easy not to care. It's a pity, because it seems the players do.
