If you need to take public transport to Glenelg, you have to do it either via the CBD or Marion, both of which are far and away better retail options. Mind-numbingly stupid...

Next moronic plan for Jetty Road is to remove up to 60 car parks and drop the speed limit to 30.

All at a cost of $40 million which they have to borrow for.

There are two Jetty Roads of note in Holdfast Bay. Which one is it?

Ah I remember the days when the other Jetty Rd was just locals and a hidden gem, now it is crazy busy

When I send a business e-mail to a particular customer, asking a question. Then, rather than answer the question, he "likes" my e-mail.

WTF is that all about?

The internet stopped working chez Pseudo yesterday afternoon. Still out this morning, and I found that I couldn't log in to our ISP account online (using the mobile phone, natch). So I call tech support this morning to find out what the issue is.

Tech support told me that the service had been terminated at the behest of the NBN. Apparently this usually happens when one makes an enquiry to another ISP about changing ... but I've not done that. Regardless, the old service can not be renewed, I'd have to start a new one. To complicate matters the old ISP (Internode) is not taking new customers 'coz they're rolling all their clients over to iiNet. Nevertheless: not one email, not one phone call, not ANY notification or an attempt to confirm that I wanted to terminate - heck, I even received an invoice from the ISP the day before - they just pulled the plug and that was that,

Called the NBN to see what the hell they were up to - and got a recorded message telling me their hours are 8-5 M-F.

So ... no broadband interwebs for the rest of the weekend, and probably much of next week, at the least. Now hotspotting on the mobile for connectivity. First thing Monday I'm gonna call the NBN, reach down the phone line and throttle whoever is on the other end. Then I'm gonna set up with a new ISP.

NBN are a wholesaler so they don’t deal directly with consumers, therefore unfortunately you have no direct recourse with them … but, your ISP does.

The issue is completely with your ISP so you have to keep hassling them.

This sounds like a crock of shit from your ISP, none of what they told you makes any sense. You can sign up with any other ISP at any time (24x7) and can be up and running literally in a a matter of minutes, or at worst an hour or so. Most plans are month to month, so probably the easiest thing to do is sign up with someone else to give you time to work out WTF happened, and you can change after a month again if you so desire (just make sure the T&Cs confirm that there will be no other charges … there shouldn’t be).

The rational explanation is that someone else authorised either the closure of your Internode account or a signup with another ISP. Either way, you should have been notified by Internode regardless. NBN just respond to ISP requests so they aren’t at fault. There is the possibility that none of this happened and internode just faarked up.

FFS, rid yourself of Internode/iiNet/TPG … the Internode of old died long ago.

Ain't that the truth.

I've been procrastinating about leaving Internode for a long time. Never got around to it, partly because "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Well now it's not only broke but actively rooted. So I'm finally gone.

Surely the NBN could tell me where the request to disconnect came from? I don't trust iiNet/internode to chase it up. I don't want to get another broadband service going only to have it snatched out from under me again, because the other party keeps trying to reestablish their connection at my address.

You’re extremely unlikely to get anything out of NBN … they will just tell you to deal with your ISP.

It is definitely not normal for your service to be cancelled without your knowledge. Up to you whether you want to hassle Internode about it, but if it was me, I’d just faark them off and move on.

Just get a service with another ISP, if that is successful then you’ll have no issues from here on. Let us know how you get on.

Hmmmmm....

On thursday we got a slip from Oz post in the mail, announcing a small package to be collected ... but the addressee was not anyone at our place, nor was it any of the immediate neighbours.

On friday morning Mrs Pseudo took the slip to the post office and told them the package wasn't for us.

On friday arvo the interwebs got cut off.

And just now it strikes me: I bet the parcel was a modem router.

The pieces begin to fall in to place. At least now we know the surname of the other party.
