The internet stopped working
chez Pseudo yesterday afternoon. Still out this morning, and I found that I couldn't log in to our ISP account online (using the mobile phone, natch). So I call tech support this morning to find out what the issue is.
Tech support told me that the service had been terminated at the behest of the NBN. Apparently this usually happens when one makes an enquiry to another ISP about changing ... but I've not done that. Regardless, the old service can not be renewed, I'd have to start a new one. To complicate matters the old ISP (Internode) is not taking new customers 'coz they're rolling all their clients over to iiNet. Nevertheless: not one email, not one phone call, not ANY notification or an attempt to confirm that I wanted to terminate - heck, I even received an invoice from the ISP the day before - they just pulled the plug and that was that,
Called the NBN to see what the hell they were up to - and got a recorded message telling me their hours are 8-5 M-F.
So ... no broadband interwebs for the rest of the weekend, and probably much of next week, at the least. Now hotspotting on the mobile for connectivity. First thing Monday I'm gonna call the NBN, reach down the phone line and throttle whoever is on the other end. Then I'm gonna set up with a new ISP.
