Yep all over 40 % of the count labour on 46 % primary vote Libs 32%

All booths are in and being counted

Disunity is death. You’d think they’d learn after 50 years.

If everyone voted there is still 15000 votes to be counted (that’s a lot of prepoll and postals) but that’s a massive swing against the Libs.

Libs have conceded, all done.

Last 2 by-elections … seats held by the previous Lib leader, both now goneski.

Will the last one out turn off the lights at Liberal HQ.

Yeah I sit on the right side of politics philosophically

However no matter how you try and slice and dice this it’s an absolute thumping

Compared to the 2022 election they’ve suffered an 18% swing against them (50% to 32%) on the primary vote, take average 3% incumbency factor and that’s a 15% swing against the libs themselves.

Now it might end up being a15% swing and an 10-11% 2PP swing after pistols but if the Liberals need any further evidence they are on the wrong track by forgetting about the centre of Australian politics they are on they will be stuck on the left hand side of the Speaker for a long time yet

Except they then won the next 3 elections after only having 7 seats after the 2012 elections (LNP had 78).

Will the SA Libs repeat that effort? Yeah-nah.

Now they have the problem of where they spend their budget at the next election.

At best they could hope to win back 3-4 marginal seats, in doing that they're basically gambling on which ones they think they can win and they pour their resources into them. Worst case is they take their eyes off a marginal seat they hold and lose one of them.

The next Liberal premier is probably just getting dropped to school in Mummy's Cayenne Turbo.

Then best "Liberal" people sit / have sat on the Economic Development Board
Then again; probably the best people from either side

There's nothing good in being a politician.
Except, it seems;
1. Great super; which you can access before normal people even though you usually get another job from your mates still in there
2. You get to bypass the normal investment lending requirements of banks
3. Qantas Chairmans Lounge

Amanda Wilson “oh well, I’ll just go back and be the mayor of Holdfast Bay council “

Why say that in a press conference

"Zero Petroleum to launch feasibility study into new low-carbon aviation fuel production facility in Whyalla"

https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sou ... 35b7a99775

Interesting comment by a local:

1) A flying school was promised for Whyalla. Didn't happen.
2) A $100 million, 9 storey motel was going to happen in Whyalla. But it didn't.
3) Sanjeeve Gupta made many promises, and announcements regarding the Whyalla Steelworks. Still waiting.....Oh, and did I mention he's got no money and/or he owes a lot of money?
4) Population was slated to go to 80000. Still waiting (it's currently 22000).
5) A desalination plant was going to be built in Whyalla. Didn't happen.
6) A rare earths plant was going to be built in Whyalla. Didn't happen.
7) A tioxide plant was going to be built in Whyalla. Didn't happen.
8) A ship recycling facility was going to be established in Whyalla. Didn't happen.

Penned by a local Whyalla resident who has (yawn) heard it all before.
But you know what? At least the sun will get up tomorrow morning. Guaranteed.

I've never heard such a loud and positive reception for a sitting Premier as I heard yesterday when Mali was introduced post-race to present the trophy.

Yes changed in 2004 but does still have some benefits not available to all.

They can get it at 55 and after 8 years service they are entitled to 50% which increases by 2.5% for each year served after that.
