Surely there’s a club out there that can put a team together to get it done!

Would have to come from Virginia, AV or Eyre Royals. Not sure any of the football/cricket clubs care enough do they, more just about having the bar open in summer...? ;)

Their run will come to an end eventually, the McIntyres will age. Their 16's had some success this year so maybe a few more reasonable cricketers coming through the ranks, although junior success doesn't always translate to senior success. Doesn't help when blokes keep flocking there from other clubs chasing success, Cant beat them - Join them!

Westies are so strong continually because they have always blooded youth into their A's from a young age, the only ring in from their premiership team was Tulloch, it's not as though players go flocking there for a flag, they've built success.

Virginia blew the perfect opportunity to knock them off, they were beaten by a smarter Angle Vale performance. Angle Vale bowled 46 overs by tea, it sneaks up on the batting side who usually play cautious til the tea break then push the rate along with wickets in the shed, going out for two 12 over stints opposed to two 17 over ones changes the mindset. This caused Virginia to bat too slow, generally Shaun Lay can get away with striking around 40 off 100 as he then accelerates, they usually have batters around him srtike at 70 to 80, they collectively managed 76 off 254 balls between 3 batters, it made it hard to reach 200 from there.

Having said that, 174 was still very defendable, Ash Fry batted brilliantly and Virginia should've clogged up his main scoring avenues, James Kelly played his role perfectly despite almost sending me to sleep, AV played smarter cricket and it got them to the big dance.

As long as there is two day cricket Salisbury West will always be right up there, they use the season to audition players for the finals and then step up a level once they get there. When you have up to 7 players with match-winning capabilities you're always going to be strong, all of their premiership XI will still be playing in 10 years time, the only change might be if Justin finally gives turf a crack, he's big [art of the cricket culture out there so I think that ship has sailed.

Opposing clubs may hate them but you have to admire them, they simply peak at the right time of year and win flags.

Bang on LM

And full credit to the players who are willing to take on ‘lesser roles’ for the betterment of the team, which you wouldn’t see everywhere

In particular blokes like Trav and Jamie Mc willing to bat at 8 or 9, they could walk into any other club and bat top 6. Instead their happy to play their role which is handy enough in it owns right but also allows young blokes like Cooper McInnes to bat too 6 and develop.

No disrespect to say Virginia but they still have the old boys batting 1,2,3 whilst a younger one with talent bats down at 7.

Agree with both comments above. They are a professional Cricket setup, take their junior development seriously and their As just know how to get it done when it counts.

Love em or hate em you have to respect them.

Vale Mick Lewis, PDCA committee member and all round great human.

Pulled from the Dublin Cricket Club Facebook page;

(…)Mick was everyone's friend, always talked to everyone that came through the club, funny bloke that made people laugh. He would always try to be involved in conversations on various topics, did not matter what it was he was interested, Adults, kids or animals every and anyone didn't matter he would listen.
He was part of our club, committee, an advocate for our Women's Team and overall supporter of our club. He attended almost all the women's games and was present at our club on a regular basis.
He would make the effort to go out of his way to do things for the teams and club, he organised t-shirts, putting money on the bar for the boys to have few drinks, Made curries when we had footy nights. If you asked him to open club for tradies/events he would just do it.
Was known to many not just at Cricket club , Thompson beach and progress association, Mallala RSL and he also joined the PDCA committee last year. That in itself showed you he was there to help our community progress further.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Mick's Family and Friends.
RIP Mick, you will be missed.

Sounds like the Pigs at Dublin and Wild Horse Plains have produced the goods again this year. Strong noise that Chris Graser back, McIver x2 and Dunn all locked in, Richards bringing the CDFC with him, Dublin pitching to the Adelaide Plains Town Council for a second oval. Always good to see Grade 1 get a bit stronger!

I don't jest.

My mail is that they've grown bored of Grade 1, and with clubs coming / going into LO1.

No chance, they are a far more dangerous two day side.

Not Westies, possibly another top 4 side or 2 to play LO’s… Association HAS to read the room.

Interesting take, probably the deepest batting team in Grade 1 which would allow Jamie McIntyre to bat more at the top, sliding Davies down to 6, 7 or 8, allowing them to go harder for longer than most teams and with 5 or 6 frontline bowlers and a plethora of bowlers in the Twos you would think Limited Overs cricket would suit them as a club more than most.

Also not forgetting they knocked off the best of the Turf T20 comp, Para Hills.

My mail is not Virginia, very doubtful Salisbury West, who knows with Eastern Park ( they wouldn't know themselves), and Angle Vale odds on. That's the teams from the top 4. The bottom 4 is anyone's guess other than North Pines who stated last season that they will be playing LO next season and a few from Craigmore indicated the same.

More likely SW Grade 1 and Bs in LO1.
Will be fairly competitive in LO1 with names slotting in and out as they feel like.

Few exits out at Dublin, with last years opening bowling Luke puddy being the first. Rumours are that south gawler have thrown money at him

Watched him bowl in the LO final this year, all I can say is the money would be better off in the hands of a charity

Heard a rumour that Sutton Derby (ex ASCA) mark 2, now Dutton Darby may be applying to join PDCA in their one day comp. Didn't last season last year but don't know their new depth of players.

Interesting/Cryptic post from Eyre Royals Socials, maybe a few overseas imports coming to help move the club forward. Well done, will be good for the Comp and a brave move that could reap great benefits in the coming years.
