SACAs did exactly this with Bob Blewett in the late 70s while handrickan, darling, hookes etc played as kids around him (admittedly in World Series days and few older guys all went at once) and Chappelli suggested exactly the same reason that KG should have done the job for SA, coming back out of grade cricket, when he was away captaining the Aussies in the mid 70s.
As said, I wouldn't have a clue these days who is a good solid player in grade cricket, knows captaincy, hard head etc, who could guide youngies and not be worried about the verbals from all other states during matches.

Not as silly as it sounds as Australia did it back in WSC days bringing back Simpson for a year or two and that worked ok and he even made a ton or two despite being in his early 40s BUT i think thay need to getAGGRESSIVE with their Recruiting and get someone interstate or even overseas to take charge of the team for a couple of years. FFS all they're doing at the moment is going Backwards.

not sure where you got this info from mate but Lehman was forced to resign at the end of last season citing poor performance of both his captaincy and team. Also a few things behind the scene regarding setting examples to younger players may also have been a factor.

He may or may not have mentioned wanting to groom his successor.
