I agree that James' action was not required. It was reckless, thoughtless and stupid. I am still trying to work out what Schubert did to him or Chris earlier as there is no doubt this was a payback! However, did he misread a number and the payback should have been for Dean Howard stomping on Chris' face earlier?

Legal action ?
Retrospective legal charges against previous perpetrators ?

BAYMAN it would set a precedent
Shall we get Grave Danger in more trouble ?
Should Neil Kerley be charged for that incident involving Damien Nygaard in the late 60s ?

James Gowans will have to live with his king hit for a lifetime
The stigma involved will ultimately take its toll.

He will face the tribunal and cop a heap of matches, which will see him miss a lot of the 2008 season. I am pretty sure in his Jack Oatey speach, the other half said they will be back next year, which to me suggests he they will both be playing again. How many matches? Thats the question!!!

jeez he threw a punch in retaliation to an earlier cheap shot.I do not in any way condone it and I personally think if you are going to thump someone at least do it from front on, but it's not like he stabbed the bloke!

ps even if he did stab him the way the justice system works in this state he'd only get community service.

Legal action in the past has happened but only when a player feels that what has happened to him is worth pursuing through legal channels. It becomes a matter for individuals.

Football authorities/controlling bodies deal with such actions as reported to them by the tribunal system.

This is not a comment on any particular incident - a response to legal action question only

This is a crap thread.

If you watched 25 seconds of the game, then it hire a lawyer.

If you watched the hole game, then you know the circumstances.

Pot kettle black being an opposition trianer I saw some of Macca's finest work close hand but I'm not going to have a go at Macca as my club when it was successful had blokes who pushed the line and crossed it.

Yep and we all know the circumstances behind what Sims did to Simpson and he duly got games, one would think (And hope) the same will happen here....i.e it will be settled by the tribunal

What happens on the ground stays on the ground, especially if it was an evener up, i will not make a comment until i see all of the game next week.

But if it is a king hit he probably deserves 4 weeks, it appears to be blown out of proportion it all depends what the extent of the injuries were ???

However, i do not condone what happened but you all know in the heat of the battle anything can happen !!!!!!!!!!!!

If you actually read what I wrote you would see that I said he should have had at least hit him from front on not from behind. Cowardly and callous? no. retaliatory and stupid when the game was well and truly over? yes.
