why cant all finals be rotated to all the clubs and the clubs with the "3rd world facilities" (e.g cove, mophies and lonsdale) can hold their turn at at more suited finals venue but still take the profit? that way everyone wins...how ever i think the grand final should be held at porties every year no matter what, was at the GF lst year and left quater time of the b grade!!! does anyone reckon the adelaide v west coast prelim had anythin to do with last years attendace? from what ive heard the afl have scheduled the game next week for saturday arvo again!!! what a joke

Anywhere but south would be good, but i cant see it happeneing in the next few years. Nothing used to beat porties grand finals back in the day!
Should be a couple of good games on the weekend, which should lead to a good grand final, even if it is played at south!

I think everyones in agreeance that the GF was a far more enjoyable day @ Porties. But until a club put forward a proposal that can gaurantee safety, crowd control, ambulance access, no under age drinking etc then i cant see the GF going anywhere unfortunately. And i'm sure the league will point to the fact there havent been any major incidents since its been shifted.

Perhaps a few blokes can organise a fight that interrupts the match this year...
Aldinga Vs Fly, Hotdogs Vs Mexican.....shouldnt be too hard.

firstly - theres no way to guarantee underage drinking - thats almost impossible.

not sure who said it now, but will cars be alloud in for the GF - atleast this would spread out the crowd a bit more. can anyone confirm this??

Playing a GF at a League Ground is not just about history - it is about ensuring that your kids (the juniors) get a taste of playing a GF on a League ground - and if it is safer for all involved - so be it!!!

Porties whilst a great ground - benefits 1 club - and has a bad stench with kids fighting in the car parks and on the ground....the move to South whilst an ordinary ground gives the parents a safe place to watch their kids and gives the seniors an opportunity to strut their stuff on a big arena - players don't really care - they just want to play in a GF.

The GF should rotate between South, Glenelg and West - no arguments then about who profits from the day - no arguments about the history of the ground and the kids and parents all enjoy playing footy because they don't have to put up with kids running on the ground and fighting.

AFLflyer, check with your club. I think you will find parking around the ground this year is a goer. Tickets pre-sold, nothing on the day as far as I know.

no cars around oval this year due to renovations but this has been sent to clubs to decide on for next year - cars would have to be in by 7.30 and not allowed to leave until completion of A grade, Tickets to be purchased through clubs so any grog smuggled in and caught would come back on to the club concerned.

I agree with you old croc - Rotate all junior grand finals around the league grounds - great for parents etc
but play seniors at Aldinga, Porties or anyone else who can make the guarantees needed and still have that atmosphere that we used to have otherwise half of the SFL supporters not invovled in the match will go to Strath and enjoy a great day at a local venue - P.S - GSFL GF is played at Strath every year

having played a GF's at both venues I can tell you without a doubt the atmosphere is much better at Porties, the outer wing at South is a wasteland. The outer wing at Porties was where you wanted to take that hanger, horns blaring, people cheering compared to a couple of kids cheering because they saw a deserted side of the oval to kick the footy! I'm all for exposing juniors to league grounds and the atmosphere of it but isn't that what mini-league is for? GF should be on a rotating basis between Pt Noarlunga, Bice and Noarlunga (shoes) Ovals! Surely The Pres being a Cop would be able to organise something more benefitial!

Shoes oval was good when i played on it! Still is.

Go the cocklies this week! it would be great to see Brighton Porties GF. That would pull a crowd! no matter where it is.

Youve got to be kidding me dont you. both teams are good enough to play in the GF. but the crowd comment is way off the mark. Those two teams dont have the greatest follwing crowds going around. especially brighton. you mite get some interested observers from other clubs but "pull a crowd" more like youd have to "rent a crowd".

Now Lova......as with the Pavlova you are certainly out of date and no longer the flavour of the month......Brighton will pull a huge crowd come the GF.....quoting a great coach of ours from the past in Mark Naley....why perform in front of 200 people - but put 50,000 in front of me and i'll put on a show.....same thing with the Bomber followers......give them something to cheer about and they'll be about in their thousands.....otherwise they will be sipping chardy's at home.....in pink sweaters mind you.....

Speaking of out of date..... what is the real hotdogs doing these days. Maybe we both need to update our image.
By the sound of your post franky all the brighton supporters are bandwagon jumpers then. they dont come and watch when your doin it tough but IF you make a GF they will all come from the wood work. Mite head down on sunday and watch the game. I will count the crowd for you..... I assume you'll be hosting the sweater wearing, chardy sipping party, so Ill let you know how it goes.

I few good ideas out there about the GF lads.
It sounds like we all agree. I especially like the Aldinga Idea. I know theres a few dingy boys on this site so get onto it boys. Lets get the atmosphere back.

I'll get the feedback from a few more people before we would put in a full proposal, Not being biassed with it I genuinely think it would be great there. alot of maintenance work and upgrades happened this year and would now definately be suitable in 2008.

Let me know what other people think, everyones open to ideas, just to get it away from Noarlunga, as said before its a local venue it needs to bring back the atmosphere. tally ho

Ando would probably charter a jet if Cove ever made the GF in his time........

Way too far for mine.......I am all for for playing on a league oval.....look at the amateur GF- that is played at Adelaide Oval......maybe the SFL could look at that - although a bit far for southern supporters.....I still think Bay oval is the go.....

yeah croc some good points definately. I reckon that Glenelg would be better than south aswell, just a better oval and grass to sit and set up. Im open to criticism about the Aldinga idea was just throwin it out there. Im pretty sure with the reference to it being to far for Brighton only- c'mon are yous that soft that driving half hour to get to a grandy is to much? or you just worried your gel will dry out by then? Look at all aspects of it not just 1.
Think everyone just agrees that no matter what SOMETHING needs to be done.
