Hardly any Port Power ressie supporters at the game. Most would of stayed home to watch the Port v Freo game.

After witnessing this game today, the Magpies are well and truly dead ! No one give a $hit about them anymore.

And they don't give a shit about SANFL finals if the AFL team is not playing in the finals

Not surprising really, Channel 7 and the SANFL made it almost impossible for Port fans to head to Noarlunga. Live against the gate followed by the AFL almost immediately after, what did they expect?

The extra "exposure" the C7 deal creates is clearly at the expense of the SANFL and the clubs. On Saturday it cost the SANFL and South to keep people out of the place. Paid for the TV deal and people stay away....good going!

Having said all that, shows the challenges South face, nice day, big night at the club, historic event and a home match that was always going to be very hard to lose and under 1000 people. Surely even a poor South supporter turn out would be 1000+ on their own?

This is why Port need to lose home games. Any money you spend at the ground is going to support an AFL club not an SANFL club. They obviously don't care about the other SANFL clubs or trying to support the competition if they are actively telling people not to go watch their reserves team so they can profit.

Saturday's a bad day down there, competing with SFL and GSFL to a lesser degree.

Agreed. Probably also highlights how the true core "magpie" supporters have been lost as well. The costly TV coverage has been more detrimental than beneficial. I'm sure no supporters or sponsors have jumped on board due the coverage.

Must admit I've missed two games at Prospect this year as North were on TV, probably the same with the South game on Saturday too.
Why would I go to a SANFL game in a compromised joke of a comp with overpriced beer with no choice when I can sit at a pub and pay less for pints of a decent beer?
Throw in the $14 to get in, no thanks.
I even chose to work instead of going to last Monday's game. So many things need to be fixed in the SANFL.

I was at Noarlunga on Saturday like I am for every home game.

The crowd was the smallest I have ever seen.

Yes there were very few Port Supporters at the game (once again tv fixturing didn't help)

But what really worries me is that South Adelaide is having it's best start to season in a long time, particularly at home where we are now 7 wins from 7 games and we cannot get any extra supporters to come to the games. All the usual die hards were there but when we are travelling this well and we can't get the casual fan to turn up it's a massive worry for the club.

Another thing to note is we have been so lucky with the weather this season and we haven't really had a wet game so we can't blame our home crowd numbers on this.

I know the club is concerned about this and as previously mentioned if we as a club can't even get 1000 South supporters to our games especailly when we were celebrating 140 years of history it concerns me for the club I love in the future.

How many unofficial crowds of under 1000 have there been in the past???

Surprised that the SANFL let that figure get past....

That figure didn't seem right to me, i noticed at the start of the game the crowd was poor but more folks turned up during the first quarter and i wonder if they were counted, the crowd wasn't necessarily obviously as small as suggested. I know of some South people who didn't go due to the Ball that night as going to the game then going home to change into your formal best proved a hassle for those of us that live a long way from Noarlunga. The crowd, having said that, was poor however the scheduling as discussed greatly impacted this, crap programming by the SANFL.

There was no more than 6 near me and they didn't make much noise at all, even in the first quarter when they got the jump on us

I'm not convinced of the validity of the figure, given that my mum arrived late in the second quarter (not realising the game started at 1:10pm) and she walked in without being scanned - the SANFL officials had already left the gates by the 20 min mark of the quarter, apparently.

I'm also not sure that players, umpires and officials are counted in the crowd figure, especially since the introduction of the electronic ticketing system, given that players usually receive a game-by-game ticket (as not every player is selected each week).

Don't players get 3 tickets per game for the minor round if selected? 1 issued much like the member season tickets plastic with a barcode. then 2 paper tickets with a barcode on them also?

Don't the clubs man the gates these days?

Spot on Booney.
Now that the Magpies are nothing more than a reserves outfit, their needs, and by extension the needs of the SANFL, will ALWAYS run secondary to that of the Power in that club's eyes. If the administrations can't create circumstances that keep the priorities clearly separate then Port will choose the course of action that favours their AFL version of the club. A more concrete reason for them being kicked out of the SANFL forthwith you will not find.

When I was a reserves team manager senior players were given 1 or 2 tickets, reserves only 1. Half the time when we arrived for pre-match the gates weren't manned then anyway. Its a few years back now so I'm not sure what the situation is nowadays.

It looked like an SANFL staffer when I arrived at 11:00am to shoot the reserves game. Irrespective if they gate wasn't manned the crowd (or lack thereof) number will be inaccurate.

A very poor turn out, with a number of contributing factors, but a concern for the club nonetheless. With the team performing strongly this year they would surely be hoping for larger attendances, not smaller.

Was surprised at the 3K crowd figure given at the Bay, felt very thin. There were quite a few in the bar (listening to someone playing acoustic guitar WTF) but the Members stand wasn't even half full which was strange given the media coverage lately. Only a few years ago the equivalent game got 12K.
