Tex as a footballer has the trust and respect from everyone in the club, and will be a great link between the players (both senior and new) and coaching staff. His on field presence is that of a Jonathan Brown (although he has a long way to go to rival that) and I think it will only improve his football with the extra focus of his on field performance.
Tex in the media is a different story. Comes across slow and a meat head (no one mentions Swanny in this regard in front of the media which he is), but i think he has a bit more of a clue than he lets on. At the end of the day he is 24 and enjoys the social side of life, it just happens to be as an AFL footballer which is in the spotlight a bit more.
He's not going to be perfect, but i am sure he will embrace the challenge and become a better person/ footballer because of it.

What would have the reaction been then?
Dunno, just asking the questions.

He was the second best forward when tippett was there and would always get the weaker defender. Then early 2013 (before he did his knee) when he was the main forward he struggled. Even though that was for only a few games...
And since he's been back he certainly hasn't set the world on fire. I am aware he's coming back from a serious knee injury.
Before all you crows fans get your back up, i'm not saying he's not very good, i actually like Tex and would like to see him do well...

Still only 24. His best is ahead of him.
Kicked 63 goals in 2012 and would have kicked 50 last year if he had played a full season, which is very good considering the comeback from injury.
Reckon he will kick 50+ this year which is the benchmark for an elite forward.

Well I'll "assume" that after kicking 29 goals, teams would've looked to shut him down, he kicked 4 goals in the next 8 games, and then belted someone out of frustration and got a 2 weeks suspension. During that suspension he developed an ice addiction, lost 40 kgs, and ended up scratching a 10cm hole in his forearm.
Is that an unreasonable assumption?

Last year was 34 in 15 games.
