Ahh. Brings back memories of playing hills football. Disappointing that a final had to be played on that surface. But it is the hills.
On a positive, the oval is in a lot better condition than the Bridgewater oval from a few years ago. At least this had some grass visible.

After looking at the photos and reading the comments of a few it seems that the Hills Councils Turf Managment Program are either very minimal or non existant, further more if a player was injured on these hidious playing surfaces im sure the Hills Council would be "Running For The Hills" (pun intended)

I think you'll find a lot of the ovals in the hills aren't owned or maintained by the council. I know Birdwood's isn't which makes getting funding from the council very difficult.

oh ok now thats starting to make sense TG as no LGA would have ovals in that condition for fear of litigation

The issue is we have ovals like Kersbrook's who handle the wet better than any not being given a final and yet we have to play on Nairne's and Gum's which are proven mud holes when we have wet weather. Even Birdwood's would've held up better than Nairne's.
Gum's is already looking bad and there's more rain due before the weekend and some on game day. After Saturday, it won't look any different than Nairne's.

I totally agree with you on this one. Yes there may be teams like Kersbrook in the finals but I think if the A grade side isn't playing on a certain day then schedule the other games at that oval.
Yes some clubs may not get as much money but we want to see the best display of finals footy as possible.

Had a look at gumeracha oval at lunctime(before the rain set in) WOW what a disgrace. How could the hfl allow 5 games to be played there sunday on such a quagmire. On another topic i love reading the COURIER each week and find it very informative but to read a coach say"DECLINE TO COMMENT"leaves me bewildered.I realise the coach would be under the pump at the minute but just a few words would not let too many secrets out!

Definitely.

This comp was always going to be a compromised draw as Meadows were meant to play Blackwood 4 times where other clubs didn't have to play them at all, then when Blackwood pulled out it F@#$ed things right up. The HFL had a chance to make it into some sort of fairness from round 3 but didn't.

An experiment that didn't work allowing the Central clubs gold teams in.
