Give it up mate!!

Ie another maccaism - misguided forecast of doom and gloom for our comp .

Youve completely misread my point. Not that im surprised.
Sure we have mate!!!

Please fill us in on your latest unrealistic doom and gloom scenario for the SANFL . YAWNS!!!
I've already said my point.

A legitimate AFL reserves competition will mean bigger lists for AFL clubs. Either through more players on the senior list, bigger rookie lists, or some sort of supplementary list system. If clubs have to up their list by 8-10 players each, which to cover for injuries you'd think would be the case, thats 140-180 players not currently in the AFL system.

The upkeep will come from AFL delistees (which effects the SANFL, less recruits in), other state leagues and of course the SANFL. I think it will come from more players like Kane Mitchell, Matthew Wright, Jarryd Cachia etc. who are ready to go than the 120th-180th best juniors in the country. As the SANFL houses a lot of these types, I think we'll see teams punt on your Luke Crane, Jeremy Clayton, Allen, Ezard etc. more often as ready made cover for injuries.

Im not sure how you can deny that under an official AFL reserves comp, that the SANFL will be raped of its talent. Are you that naive? Then again, 4-5 weeks ago you were scoffing at anyone that was suggesting that any of the SANFL directors would vote the Crows in.

Here's some food for thought on the Crows in the reserves debate... and feel free to call up 5AA or 5MMM and mention this to them.

On Saturday, Hawthorn played Richmond at the MCG (2.10pm start) with around 65,000 there.

At the same time (2.30pm), Box Hill Hawks (Hawthorn's VFL affiliate) hosted the Bendigo Gold - no reserves, just VFL seniors.

I called the game and mentioned I could count no more than 80 in the crowd... you read right... 80!

I asked my co-commentator who hosted the luncheon, how many were there (normally 80-150 in the lunch).
He said there was 24!

So a crowd of 100... 100 for a state league match.

Granted, the crowd ended up being boosted by around 150 for a half, when the AusKickers and their parents showed up, but due to the could weather they left early in the third quarter.

In the post-match speeches in the clubrooms (where Port Melbourne normally gets 150-200), excluding the players there was a dozen supporters.

THIS is what to expect with the Crows in the SANFL. When the Crows reserves play at the same time as their AFL side, you'll get a crowd like that... 100 - simply pathetic and a disgrace.

No wonder the Bendigo Gold are a possibility to fold at seasons end

There is absolutely no way that The Crows statement of an increase of crowd numbers is possible

Funny how many Crow supporters you come across who "go every week", despite the fact their attendances continue to fall annually.

Sadly i've come across a few of these wankers myself and the two mentioned not having even heard of Robran does not shock me anymore. In fact there is a sub set of them out there.
The pig ignorance and lack of respect for anything football outside of their immediate bubble of Crow land 2013 is amazing.

These are the ones who rely on a televison subscription or a pub visit to 'support' their team. God forbid they would think about actually rocking up in inclement weather or going to a game where opposition supporters number any more than 10% of the crowd.

I'm still not convinced that crows having their own side in the sanfl is going to be that much more beneficial to them (player development wise) as the status quo.
Certainly not enough to justify wrecking the sanfl comp.

I thought some of their better players in the howdown yesterday were blokes that have played a fair bit in the SANFL of late.
If port & crows had their shit together over the past 3 or 4 seasons & were up the top of the ladder, I doubt theyd be trying this shit on at all.
Yeah, Naah,..... Bollocks!

If this is an accurate figure it just goes to show how desperate some clubs are for money because there is NO WAY the clubs are letting Adelaide in because they "think it will make the competition better".

It's also laughable to think Adelaide truly believe playing a team in the amatuer competition is of more benefit than the current set up.

Excellent work by Koch and Thomas to sit back and watch this shit fall to pieces.

Yeah, because "why not" argument was just so compelling. "Because the $ANFL says so."

I know staggering. You try think the notion of Crows supporters being un-educated buffoons is unfounded but then you read examples like that and the defence has to rest your honour...

BTW would have been pretty funny to watch OTR fire up yesterday in that Bar!

No... they will clash.

It's common in the VFL for AFL reserves sides (or VFL clubs run by big brother - Northern Blues and Box Hill Hawks) to request that their AFL and VFL sides play at roughly the same time where possible.

By doing this, they can put all their play on the same training and recovery regime for the next week. If the VFL played a day later, that messes things up a little for their fitness people and their plans.

In fact, the 2.10pm AFL start (and 2.30pm VFL start) allowed Hawthorn emergency Kyle Cheney enough time to jump in the car and race down from the MCG to Box Hill City Oval, do a warm up during the first term and take part for the remainder of the game.
