We were saved by a great start by kicking the first 4 goals.....Wundke with 3 of them.
Hinge was moved to stand him in the 2nd quarter and did a fine job keeping him goalless. (Until the winning goal at the end)
It was just the old wet weather footy being played. South let Sturt come back into the game which was a concern as South's next goal was not until about the 10 minute mark of the last quarter.
With Sturt being 2 points up in the dying stages of the last quarter, Ziggy missed a pretty easy shot. 1 point ball game.
With a minute to go, Wundke performed a fine tackle on Hinge (I think) to get a holding the ball decision. The Sturt supporters around me went off like animals in a zoo! I thought with Wunks being about 45 metres out and on a 45 degree angle it would be a draw. A wonderful text book kick performed by the great man sealed a 5 point victory. Ball went back and 30 seconds latter siren went and I did my happy dance.
Sturt supporters not happy with the umps and alot raced down the race to make sure they knew about it too. (And a few comments to the players too)
Liddle, Wunks, Redigolo, Ah Chee (his best game since joining this year), Gotch my best.
A nice win but still a long way to go.
Stribling and Pfeiffer leaving might have been a more positive thing then I first thought !!
Central out at Elizabeth will be our test.
