Not the prettiest game to watch but a nice result for us in the end.

We were saved by a great start by kicking the first 4 goals.....Wundke with 3 of them.
Hinge was moved to stand him in the 2nd quarter and did a fine job keeping him goalless. (Until the winning goal at the end)

It was just the old wet weather footy being played. South let Sturt come back into the game which was a concern as South's next goal was not until about the 10 minute mark of the last quarter.

With Sturt being 2 points up in the dying stages of the last quarter, Ziggy missed a pretty easy shot. 1 point ball game.

With a minute to go, Wundke performed a fine tackle on Hinge (I think) to get a holding the ball decision. The Sturt supporters around me went off like animals in a zoo! I thought with Wunks being about 45 metres out and on a 45 degree angle it would be a draw. A wonderful text book kick performed by the great man sealed a 5 point victory. Ball went back and 30 seconds latter siren went and I did my happy dance. :)

Sturt supporters not happy with the umps and alot raced down the race to make sure they knew about it too. (And a few comments to the players too)

Liddle, Wunks, Redigolo, Ah Chee (his best game since joining this year), Gotch my best.

A nice win but still a long way to go.

Stribling and Pfeiffer leaving might have been a more positive thing then I first thought !!

Central out at Elizabeth will be our test.

Ziggy needs to handball and use his team mates too !

One of the most goal hungry players in the competition right now.

Southee, you parrot... You need stop repeating what you hear other people saying at the ground... ;)

Ziggy could certainly do with some kicking practice, but I don't think he's hungry. Our hungry player is McIntyre. If anything, I reckon Ziggy lacks confidence and looks to pass off when he should have a shot.

Was anyone's game and thankfully south prevailed!
Sturt looked more cohesive at times and maybe a bit sharper with their skills but hats off to our lads for endeavour and having a fair dinkum go!!
Nick Liddle was tremendous again as was Wundke.
Lots of room for improvement for the south boys, lets see how we go against the dogs?

Surprised there has been no talk of Sturts management of their last 2 minutes? Graham's effort in front of the grandstand was far from acceptable from a player of his experience and I'm still scratching my head over Coads decision to short pass to Hinge in the back pocket with a slime caked brick instead of booting it 50m out wide to a contest that would've likely wound up in a scrimmage! Unbelievable mistakes from these 2 players. Very disappointed with the result.

We had 40 more possessions which continues our recent trend of having, at times, many more possesions but it not refecting on the scoreboard. To have had 81 marks yesterday was encouraging and surprising. Got in front more often than not and reaped thge rewards.

For Sturt, I thought Tambling was excellent and gave it everything. Sturts two rucks wore out Daniel Bass and Kurtze's game in the wet was terrific for a big man. I have to give credit to Bass as he toiled manfully all day and tried his guts out to the end. I don't think its all doom for Sturt (beat the Eagles away three or so weeks back) and predictions of a certain wooden spoon are premature. Sturt fans are noted for their loyalty and tough times don't last but tough people do. My definition of tough is the last 49 years!

For us, Liddle was again the catalyst with his ball getting ability and consistent high use. Xavier Gotch played in and under to perfection (conditions suited) and I thought two players had their best games for the club, Tom Fields (solid spoiling, good long disposal, plenty of run) and Brede Seccul (worked very hard off the ball, shepharding, spoiling, locking it in ). Wundke worked hard all day and probably would have been close to best. You can not underestimate 4 goals in those conditions.

Consecutive wins at home comes after the challenges of the coaching staff, where some have responded by accepting the challenge. Walking away is easy (and at times very tempting). The last two weeks are at least some reward for persistence. The challenge is to turn persistence into a habbit called winning.

I hope one of the South posters is the dill sitting around from me giving Panozzo a mouth full about being bald while his smooth hairless dome was hidden under a beanie.

Sturt just played dumb football with 2 min to go like other had said long kick in to the boundary was the only option.

Has been over 10 years since I have been down south and I can confirm what I always thought global warming is all b…..it as I think it’s got colder down there!

Skip to 23:35 for Wundke's tackle on Hinge.

I was blind-sided at the game but naturally as happy as a pig in shit with the decision and resulting score. Looking on replay though, you gotta feel for Sturt and its' supporters. If you're tackled almost immediately AND get a kick away, we're in a lot of trouble if umpires start thinking that's holding the ball.
