what about the ones that know they aren't good enough to play AFL?

For example, it'd be interesting to hear the view of a Victorian SANFL recruit on his perspective having played for state league clubs in the VFL and SANFL.

I saw a snippet on TV, so I'm working from memory here..but he spoke of the PAFC's preferred model put forward to keep the Magpies in tact, zones etc.
He made comment on the thought "AFL clubs are only for themselves" yet the PAFC want to maintain an SANFL presence, have junior development teams and maintain the connection they have with many local grassroots clubs around the state.
I said to a friend on Saturday. Just because a kid plays for Rosewater, ends up in the Magpies development squad, playes 16's, 18's, reserves and league for the Magpies this does not make him an automatic Power listed player. All AFL clubs have access to draft him.
Port want to maintain our SANFL/community structure, why is that seen as such a bad thing?

Think you're spot on mate, and the same attitudes are reflected through the media and no doubt behind the scenes in the football community. Everyone has an opinion on it. And everyone's opinion matches their own best interest.

Wait, so now you want the Magpies u/16, u/18, reserves and league plus Power reserves? Not gonna happen.
