Round 13 Preview
Poon Army v Q Before You - Match of the Round
Poony had a rare stinker last week and will be pretty keen to bounce back against mid table Q Man in this match. Looking at both sides Q looks stronger overall and I believe that Troy is 10-2 this year as he has adapted the best to all the permutations of the rolling lockout. Despite Hammo being the master of the late trade, I'm liking Q Before You to win this match.
Captain Who v Richo Richo Man
The Captain's premiership defence is right on track and he's well poised to become the first Hogg Premier League champion to go back to back. Richo's form has improved in the last five or six weeks after a real shaky period but I reckon he's out of his depth in this match. I reckon Richo Richo will go close man but in the end it's the Captain who will win and reduce the gap to one match behind the ladder leaders Poon Army.
Texas Danger SSC v Hawkeye
Despite scoring **** all points this season, Hawkeye find themselves well and truly entrenched in the top eight. For us battlers we all reckon it's high time Hawkeye dropped a few. Now Woggy has been a master of head to head combat this season but surely he can't get over the number one ranked side in the Hogg? If Woggy gets 2057 and beats Hondo I'll be reaching for the razor blades. Won't happen, can't happen...um...will it happen? No REB it won't, Texas Danger SSC to shit it in.
Spuds v Underdogs
The Spuds are going even worse than me in the last five weeks and this week they face a tough clash against Underdogs who have clambered into the top eight. The Spuds are one of the few teams that have Sidebottom who is really on the nose in recent weeks plus unusual backs selections like Laird. Gibbo has some unusual selections as well. Not many coaches in Premier would waste their time with Chris Yarran but after a couple of stinky weeks he could bob up against Collingwood tomorrow. I'm tipping the Spuds to win this match though because Gibbo has Nick Reiwoldt and his loss will swing the match Spuds' way.
Squeakeroos DTC v Cork in the Ocean
Both sides go into this match needing to trade to rebuild their defence now that Duffield is a non starter for the Dockers this weekend. Looking at the remainder of both squads I reckon Corky has the edge and this is a match he should win. Squeaky has drifted dangerously close to the relegation zone but the win he so desperately needs is not to be found in this fixture as I reckon Cork in the Ocean will be the winner.
Dutchy's Dodos v MILLER MOSQUITOES
Both of these sides have had pretty disappointing seasons with Dutchy's side looking especially vulnerable at this stage of the year. The majority of Premier League sides have at least 18 or 19 Premiums in their but the Dodos are decidedly understrength, particularly in the key midfield posts. MILLERS also have more than a few holes in their side but they can salvage something from their season and keep Dutchys Dodos in the relegation zone. MILLERS MOSQUITOES to win.
REBCats v The Ginger Ninjas
Two original Hogg Premier sides have done it tough this season with wins far and few between. The Ninjas have shown some signs of life in recent weeks after a poor start to the year but the REBCats are having trouble applying the finishing touches as we start to look more and more like the Roos every week. It is last chance time for my boys if I expect to make the finals and The Ginger Ninjas is a team that I normally own. Here's to one more trip to the well and a REBCats victory.
Buddyroughhawks v chardy socialists
The chardies looked like they almost might be back in town after defeating the Ginger Ninjas two weeks ago but got back to their poor scoring ways last week as they slumped to their eleventh loss for the season. In the preseason I had Buddyroughhawks down there as well but wycbloods' combination has unearthed some cracking form more reminiscent of his barnstorming 2011 Division I campaign. I'm right on the buddy bandwagon now and I reckon Buddyroughhawks will win this fairly easy.
Darksiders SCE v Longwood Lions
The Darksiders are in rare territory indeed coming off three straight losses. The big problem they face this week is a talented coach with plenty of trades. Not the recipie you are looking for when you desperately need a win to get back into finals contention. I reckon Alaska can get the drop on the Darkside here and I'm tipping the Longwood Lions to win and sentence the Darksiders to a fourth straight loss in Hogg Premier.
