Bit harsh- most work long hours just to eek out a living.
Land lords charging high rents mean retailers have to cover their overheads.
Spoke to a colleague today who as just opened up business premises- didn't jump into it, waited until the price came down to what he was prepared to pay, now the landlord has income instead of an empty shop.
Other struggling buinesses are asking for rent cuts (and getting them) for the same reason- reduce the rent i you want us to stay as tenants, or take the risk in finding new ones!
